Fatal wreck closes US 231 near Linden

One person is dead after a near head-on collision on U.S. 231 in Montgomery County.

I heard about this because of the traffic being rerouted around Linden for so long. I wonder what happened to cause this accident? From the eyewitness account it sounds like there could have been something mechanical that went wrong with the truck and the driver lost control.

I also heard of the bravery of the motorist that tried to rescue the guy in the truck but suffered burns on his hands and arms from it. What a courageous person!

Johnny Ray Hatfield was my sons father. Johnny ray died easter sunday 1977

I am the mother of the man that died in this fatel wreck. Needless to say I and my family are devistated. My son fell asleep at the wheel on his way to crawfordsville to meet his wfe before she left for florida. They where making plans to move back there. She was to go ahead of him. We had a memorial gathering for him at Grace and Mercey Ministries in crawfordsville Nathan Miller associating.
