Here is the answer for you "old man"... This is Frankfort.

Why do not you and the bunch of tax payers that you say want to know, all get together and march into the mayors office and ask him. You may not of heard but neither him or any other sane person reads topix. This forum is for only the lonely. Call him, he will give up the opportunity to see him.You will not, because you really don't want answers, you just want to bitch about something you know nothing about. You are so sure IVY will fail, but have given not one reason how. Truth is you want it to fail, SAD !! Sick idea of how to help our cities progress.

No one wants higher education to fail, girl. They want IVT to have "some skin in the game" as Vern Kasper says.

Here's a question for you Ms. Know it All... How will a building, the size of the old Times building, be capable of having enough hands on equipment to cater to our Industrial Area? It's gonna be tough to get welding and brazing equipment in there? Why?'Cause you gotta have a wicked exhaust system in place. Not to mention a wicked fired suppression system too.

Next, how about injection moulding equipment to train people for The Tech Group, Federal Mogel, and quite possibly Donaldsons? Again, not enough room.

That building will most likely do some Core educations classes with the occasional IT or basic computer class. If you want more, you will be directed to Lafayette.

Now by this time, you SHOULD be asking yourself "how does this person know all of this?". Well, I'm glad you were thinking that. It's because I have spoken with IVT admin in Lafayette wondering what they plan on doing to start up this program. Why? Because our kids need to know what to expect when they graduate over the next two or three years, that's why.

Do you think for a moment that anyone like Kasper, the Mayor, the Chamber, Purdue Ext, the Administration, or the few power people want you to know that? Very Doubtful. So people go elsewhere to get their answers.

As far as talking to the Mayor, no thanks. He has deceived me personally one too many times. Notice I said ME and not the community.

Helping the cities progress should be linked to making the incoming corridors look nice, streamline spending, go after property issues, clean up the town, adding additional Liberal Arts programs, and loosening up the stringent standards for allowing businesses to locate where they desire instead of turning them away to other communities.

Then, and only then, will people be willing to look at Clinton County and Frankfort.

So, there you go. Call me a hater if you desire. But I have done my research and those girl, are the facts.

Well "old man"', not really clear on an answer to that question.

What I suspect is that they have gotten other communities to give them something of huge value for free. Then as they outgrow it, the ask for more and are handed it to them on a silver platter.

Lafayette started out in an old school bldg in downtown and have been mostly spoon fed since then. I have heard that they hand back those buildings once they are done with them. Old Jeff needed so much handicap things done to make it a public building that whoever did the upgrades for low income housing probably got hung.

I also heard, but can't verify, that the Frankfort library built them a room or two specifically for classes and they have yet to fully utilize them.

Again, let ME make it CLEAR, that I don't wish to see failure, but also don't like to see wasteful spending.

Thank you for the kind comments.

You KNOW "Old Man" and "Hmmm" THIS old man has been sayin the same thing for ages and they have just called ME senile and told me to keep my mouth shutcause I Live in Rossville. I Liked your post about the classes at the library. The fact IS the CLASSES are STILL available and NOONE has taken advantage of them?????? The old saying fits: "You can DRAG a horse to WATER but ya CAN'T make it DRINK"
Seems noone WANTS to believe what we are a sayin. NO- NOT against EDUCATION!! Against "Unnessary Spending" in the NAME of Education!

Hummmm...responding to Tired of it all.

Why do u think tired is a girl? You attacked that post like a mad dog.

However, what interested me were your ideas for our community. You mentioned improving the corridors into the city (like), streamline spending (like), cleaning up properties (like), add liberal arts programs (like).

Let's get others input in what they would like to see.

No attacking your ideas just more brainstorming.

here is what i read. franklin in. has a IVT campus, IVT just bought 27 acers to expand this campus. i would like to know why does IVT invest money for 27 acers and not a dime for the frankfort campus? i think it is a good question, that being said why would we just give a campus to them and not have them help with the money! it just does not set right with people. is this a power play to help get more face time in the paper and tv? like i said before i would just like to know. we have the south side school campus just setting there waiting for IVT and they dont want it. it is bad spending hand over fist!

So are you saying Frankfort and Clinton County should not even consider an IVT branch unless it can be a facility that can hold welding and brazing equipment, injection molding equipment, etc.? Whatever happened to small steps?

Not at all Punjab...

You just answered your own 2nd question. If they can't fill the rooms at the Library, why would they want a big building??? I know, because it is being bought, remodeled, and given to them compliments of a ton of taxpayers who have an issue with it and an administration that wants to look good at whatever the cost.

In response to the 1st question, if you are wanting to provide classes that would be a huge help to the factories, that would be some of the important classes and equipment needed for such things.

We need post secondary education, but again not at the cost of the current program.

Thank you for asking a question in a non-confrontational way.

I will hold you to your statement. This great Mayor again wanted the tax payers to pay for the golf course that the Farmers Bank is losing off of, along with Doc O'Neil. Why would Jim Moyer and the Mayor want to have the tax payer, city/county pay $50,000 per year,$100,00 beteewn both when the bank and Doc can't make a dime? The Mayor stated this is a must because it is prestigious to have a golf course. First off, what does the city/county profit? Absolutely zero. Again, why would the Mayor be willing to give them a dime? Oh, I get it, because the Farmers Bank gave $200,00 to Ivy tech. Why does the Farmers Bank need the money back if they have so much money to give away to a losing cause. Yeah, this Mayor will have big plans for himself but that won't be for real long. He keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper. Thanks Allan Dunn for sticking up for the tax payer.. Jim Moyer, you are worthless...

I guess if you like a big spender, liar, and self centered egotistical puppet, then great.
The majority of us prefer people who spend money wisely, listens to their community, and most of all, don't care about seeing their name in the media.
But then again, that would only be about half of our city.

Here's a great lie. Read the article about the taxpayers money. Then ask yourself these questions...

"What money payed for the building?"
"What outrage amount of money will it take to purchase those parking lots?"
"Why does the media need a blow by blow report of every damn thing the mayor does?"
"Why doesn't anyone disclose the fact that there will be no matching funds for the private money invested at this point?"
"Why can't the general public see all these facts and figures for this project?"

I just don't see how you can't see thru all his crap

These posts are some of BEST This ol guy has read in MONTHS! But "GRIP" Don't be too quick to be THANKING Alan Dunn for ANYTHING! Remember he ALSO tried to continue to sell us taxpayers down the drain with Mike Beards 450 project clean up to the Dec 31 meeting of the Commissioners. This is NOT hearsay, THIS ol man was Sitting there when Dunn and Woods were sitting there and Beard and Beard Encumbered the money for 450 to be paved as soon
as the weather got better and that Lutz woman almost got THROWN out for causin a scene sayin the Commissioners couldn't do that until the Council gave the money and WOODS hollered at HER and told her ta shut up! Also I was in the County Meeting when YOur COunty Council President Dunn Encumbered 200,000 dollars of Tipping Fees from the Waste Management for IVT. REMEMBER Dunn is ALREADY staten he is a goin after EVANS for HIS seat as Commissioner and REMEMBER Dunn is PRES of the Airport Authority that bought the Emerson 38 acres for a cool few million and promisied a Government GRANT that he has YET to see and was on WILO stating that if NO GRANT they are gonna have to raise FRANKFORT taxes to pay for it cause it was an INVESTMENT to buy that property. And you are RIGHT about the classes at the Library they are STILL there!

the south side campus has everything that IVY needs. plenty of land to expand, school rooms, front office a gym, a place to eat on campus, and plenty of parking, and we the people of frankfort own the damn place. are we to set back and watch this school just set and crumble to nothing? the only thing i can make of all this is location. do we really need a campus in the middle of our town? hell no! the mayor and his people are putting the campus there because they want to puff up their chests and say LOOK WHAT OUR MAYOR AND HIS CREW CAN DO FOR YOU! its so he can say look what i did for you. its for when he runs for office somewhere else.

Well....."Old Man" This Old Man is here ta tell ya your HALF RIGHT - South Side is a Perfect place fer that School but SHAN "the man" Sheridan has been on WILO TWICE now and BOTH times stated that IVT would ONLY settle for a DOWNTOWN location. THEY turned down Southside and Turned down the property that Alan Dunn and the Airport Authority bought "Emerson" for a cool few million. IVT would ONLY settle for DOWNTOWN and the "Powers THAT BE" Licked their (well you know what) and are paying The city of Frankfort and the Counties TAX monies for the rest of this mess. Oh yes and we Must not forget the Individual Monies that have been given. Thank you Bill Beard for YOUR "annonamous cool $150,000 and Farmers Bank for YOUR $200,000 OH and don't forget Kasper's $200,000 so he could get his Name LIT up on the Building. Just remember...... When you add up ALL the money that has been GIVEN if it is a MILLION TAX monies STILL pays the extra THREE. To THIS date IVT has not paid a DIME nor will ANY of thier STAFF live here. THAT was stated by STAN the man Also.
