Yes, 144k is a sizeable chunk of change, or is it? To have 12 turbines you would need to own a lot of farm ground resulting in considerable farm income. So when you think about it, 144k may NOT be much money for a certain farmer with huge assets.

Thank you. Answering questions succinctly as possible instead of launching into verbose rants is the way to go.

I think the 'hits and misses' from this Saturday's Frankfort Times sums the wrongheadedness of the Clinton county commissioners and wind turbines quite well:

"Unexpectedly at its last meeting the board raised the issue as new business agenda item and voted unanimously to make Clinton County wind farm free.
We feel the decision is flawed since it appears to have been based primarily on anecdotal evidence instead of a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis from an economic development perspective. We're not convinced the a personal pool of approximately 15 Tipton County residents constitutes the basis for categorically denying wind development in Clinton County.

Second, the county has studied wind energy as part of the comprehensive plan and has an ordinance spelling out in detail what developers must do to build in Clinton County. We urge the commissioners to rescind their decision and consider any proposed developments on a case-by-case basis, allowing each it's due process"

Clinton County has approx. 33,000 people as of the last census. The commissioners talked to around 15. Pretty crappy sample size.
Sounds like some rich Clinton county farmers don't like the price these companies are offering.

Let's talk about the TIMES first. The Publisher/CoEditor is Extremely Biased against the Current Board of Commissioners. SHE plays RIGHT into the hands of the SOME Local Politicians and PROMINANT People (as SHAN "the man" SHERIDAN) stated in the article! Who the HECK are the PROMINANT people WANTIN Windfarms? This ol guy'll Tell ya! PIP Clinton County Economic Development Corporation, The PRESIDENT of the Clinton County Council! These three Commissioners do NOT fair ta Gain ONE penny toward windfarmin! Evans himself has been studyin the thing fer 6 months! I talked ta Weaver AND Evans! They have studied Tipton, Newton and Montgomery Counties. THESE are things the SHE devil didn't say in her Venom spew! Just as Well as the NEGATIVE side of windmills. YES! This ol guy has been talked too. Soooo This ol guy went and did some studyin of my OWN! MANY people are Unhappy now that the mills are in BECAUSE: The Turbines cast Shadows in their houses ALL day. When the SUN is at the proper place in the sky, it hits the top of the POLE and casts a BLINDING light into the homes. There have been MANY instances of the TURBINES catching fire and THROWING the Firey Metal Hundreds of feet RIGHT toward people's homes. In the winter, when ice builds up on the wings 15 feet long and about 5-6 inches THICK, the mill is SUPPOSED ta STOP. There are CASES when the mill did NOT stop and threw Sheets of ICE hundreds of feet at 20-30-MPH toward People's homes. The BIGGEST problem is the CONSTANT humming that has caused people to either SLEEP in their basements OR move OUT! The Commissioners ALL 3 told THIS OL GUY They are NOT in this for the SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS - or as SHERIDAN stated "SOME local Politicians and PROMINANT people" They are here for ALL of Clinton County! As "jabby" stated "some 33,000"
If ya ask ME, I applaud the Commissioners fer lookin out fer the BETTER of the MOST and not Fer the Richness of the FEW! Windfarms will NOT make jobs! That company is from OVERSEAS - They are TAKIN GREEN Monies from the Federal Government. They will use THEIR OWN PEOPLE!!! The ONLY people that will PROFIT is the FARMERS that get the MILLS! Then they will say ta HECK with the Neighbors that have ta put UP with the concequences! Remember THIS OL GUY has ALWAYS said:
"I am ALL forDevelopment" BUT "At what Cost"?
This I fear will cost Neighbors MUCH! Go to this website and watch a few of these videos on Windfarms. It'll enhance yer ideas about WHY the Commissioners choose NO!

Couldn't have said it better...education is the key! There is nothing good about wind turbines unless they are in the middle of no where. That lady from The Times needs to be kicked out of town...oh wait!...she doesn't live here or pay taxes here! She has always been against the county for whatever reason but she definitely kisses the Mayor's behind!

Sure: http://www.chronicle-tribune.com/ftimes/this-...

Note: Site is behind a paywall.

Also I had a typo in my previous post. I meant to say Tipton County has a population of 33,00 as of the last census, although Clinton County has almost the same.

nu-viewy's hatred of alternative energy sources, probably because he sells a lot of his corn to ethanol plants (a federal government boondoogle if there ever was one) is noted.
Thank a farmer

Sounds like the guy is full of himself, that's for sure.

Punjab denies being Gunyon on here, but that's exactly what it is... a denial.

If this guy gets his way, the city of Frankfort is gonna be screwed in a big way.

There's plenty of leadership in Frankfort. The problem is that it's for a select group that will profit financially and from a "namesake" perspective.
