It's the most absurb statement I've heard on here. All one has to do is look at the homes you slumlords are renting.....rundown shacks. Slumlords, stop renting to the illegals (if you truly believe they are the cause of your blighted properties), fix up your properties, pay your taxes. You people are a cancer on this community. Until you are gone, Frankfort will never recover from the blight you have created.

i agree. if the landlords stepped up did their part n fixin them n the first place and if the families didn't care for them then move them out n someone else n. the real problem is the cost ti rent. the rent is so outrageously high. even the deposit is to high.

The rent is too high??? That's funny. I bet you don't own rental property.

When 60 percent of renters leave, the landlord gets the fun of putting it back into living condition. The law loves renters and screws landlords. Doesn't matter what type of contract you have and what attorney wrote it, you loose, at the least, 60 days rent. Then the cost of cleaning and renovation of the property after the conviction and court costs.

Are there slumlords? Yes indeed. Are there great landlords? Yes indeed. Don't throw them all in the same boat.

Mr. Reid is on the right track. The codes need reviewed and updated. There should be some form of inspection by the city and the county. This protects the renters and the landlords. I'd gladly pay 50 bucks per unit to have and inspector come thru and give my places the clean bill of health.

I myself support the no slum lord signs. I also think there is a lot of house's that a empty lot would look better than what's standing on it. as long as there is a demand for low income housing these dirty bastards will collect there money!!!!( yes you Don Rapp)

I had a family member lived in one of these slum homes. For what was being paid monthly you would think some maintance would be included, nope. Just a threat to raise the rent if he has to take care of anything wrong. I came back to town seen this house and instantly moved my family member out and reported it to the city inspector. I guess nothing happened because another family has moved in since I reported it. Crumbling foundation, leaking gas furnace, and the list goes on. Someone is going to end up getting hurt or even worse killed in these homes.. I don't live in Frankfort anymore but I stand united with the people against slum lords...

Well, since you live in the Wabash area and would suffer no repercussions from being free with the truth, please give us the landlord's name, the name of your family member, and who exactly you spoke with at the city.

Looking forward to your response.

Don't bank on it John-boy... there are rentals in our town that look great on the outside and are scary as hell on the inside.

This is good to hear. A clean bill of health from an inspection would also separate the good from the bad and ugly. The only ones who will complain are those who know they will fail the inspection. They know they have something to hide.

I think many people in this town know who are good landlords and who are not. But what is disturbing is when one of those good landlords stands up for the slumlords and is against what John is doing. Saying things like the No Slumlord signs are detrimental to our town. It just doesn't make any sense to me why this good landlord would do this.

I guess this Landlord Association is a tight group.

They are a real tight circle of people that have ran this city many years. They are still in the pockets of a few people in the administration. But i have noticed that some of the administration good oll boy's are now backing away from that little inter circle.
