Canal walk in downtown Frankfort?

Apr 17, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: WLFI-TV West Lafayette

A part of Frankfort's downtown could be the home of some major creek side development that would mirror Indianapolis's downtown canal.

Once again "punjab" posts "their" (since we have no clue wheather this is a man or woman or what ever) idiotic ramblings. Don't you realize there are more Millionaires in the County than in ALL the City of Frankfort you goof? Look at all the farm land that produces ALL the grain, beef, pork and foul YOUR hungry Butt EATS. ANd BTW What in the Bejeans does a Walkway down PRARIE CREEK have ta do with education? People MIGHT get educated on polluted water! And as far as IVY, This has NOTHING to do with More/higher education. I think we are ALL for education in Frankfort and Clinton County. We are just saying as a Community "There is a COST". And at What cost. And How much is TOO much before it is breaking the BANK. Certainly you can understand THAT concept if you truly ARE a business person?

Thank you for your response.
First of all it's YOUR administration as well if you are a citizen of Frankfort. And in the interest of disclosure I did NOT vote for Mr. McBarnes.
And many times you have to commit to spending money in order to make money down the road. I want a Frankfort that is growing and thriving, not mired in no-growth as it is now. I'm willing to pony up a little more in taxes in order to help that growth which will ultimately grow the overall tax base and increase property values. But if the cheapskates don't like what the current administration is trying to accomplish they have a couple of choices. They can vote out the current administration or they can move to another community that better reflects their skinflint values.
First of all, it is not my administration. If it was, they would be listening to the community's outcry of quit spending.

Perhaps you should move. I happen to like the laid back style of Frankfort. Experienced it for 40 plus years and would like to continue it.

Don't need the redundancy of higher education that costs me and other taxpayers. I can go to other counties for the exact same thing.

You cannot vote out "the administration". Why? Because the boys and girls club will shut you down. Look what the Repubs did to Pippenger. Was he the right man? We will never know because the "administration" shut him off and blocked what they couldn't shut off.

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but what exactly is "skinflint" values.

Again, might I suggest you think about moving to another community like Noblesville, Indy, Carmel, or some other place that already had canal walks, wicked high paying jobs, and a high salary-hourly rate. That is something that Clinton County as a whole has never ever had. I invite you to again prove me and the others wrong.

lol, all those millionaire farmers got rich primarily by sucking on the government teat for decades. Crop subsidies, getting paid not to plant, etc. The federal Farm Bill is one of the largest pieces of pork in existence today. The cost of Ivy Tech is a drop in the buck compared to the millions Clinton County farmers have gotten from the government over the years. But I'm sure to you that is ok, right nu-viewy?

I wonder how much money the the rich farmers in the following link, all due to taxpayer largesse, have donated to Ivy Tech?:

Sure would be nice there "jabby" if you wern't so slanted when you spew out yer poison. Did you read the WHOLE article or just the part on CLinton County? There was 81 BILLION set aside for Subsidary payout for the farmers. They used 1/8th. Remember something: THAT is Their Living. They depend on Mother Nature. SHE gets mad and YOUR butt doesn't get FED as well because prices HAVE to go UP. Remember LAST year? YEs you can say the year before was "Bumper" But how often does THAT happen? THIS year we got Torentual Rains! THAT oh evil one is the LOT in life these Farmers have chosen. JUST as YOU have chosen YOUR job to Charge people for , as YOU said"If it takes me 20 minutes or 20 Hours" I get the SAME money. NO I am NOT a BIG Farmer. BUT I grew UP on a farm and I saw MANY of these Farmers around Here work 12 and 14 hours a day 7 days a week! They are worth EVERY DIME they make! THEY are FEEDING the WORLD! ANd if they MAKE subsidary Money SO BE IT! Sounds like YOU are the THEIF by what YOU are doing in YOUR business! If you can get a job done in 20 minutes CHARGE for 20 minutes. Or is the rest of the time SUBSIDARY? And as WE have ALL ask, PLEASE check you spelling and grammer. Horrible just Horrible

You are obviously uneducated about being a farmer. Ever bought a 200k combine? Ever bought land that cost 7k plus so you could grow your farm and help feed the world? Ever had a hail storm come thru and ruin your entire crop only to find the Insurance Co doesn't want to settle at fair market value?

Ever bought livestock and had 30 percent more into it than what wholesalers will offer you? Ever worked days in a row with no sleep and absolutely no return on your investment for potentially months if you are lucky?

Damn straight I take Govt handouts to farmers. Why? because I have to abide by stupid bureaucratic rules. Because I have to sit and listen to jerks like you complain that I get too many handouts. You should be thankful that most farmers have thick enough skins to overlook people like you.

I farm because it is what my family has done. I farm because I want to help feed this world, and that includes you too. I farm because at the end of each day, I can see the good that I have done.

Yes, there are a lot of "I's" in the above statement. Call it selfish if you want, but if it wasn't for many "I's" in Clinton County and all across the U.S., then you would most likely have an iron and protein deficiency due to lack of meat, various vitamin deficiencies because of no vegetables and fruits, calcium deficiencies because of no milk products, and on and on.

Rich farmers did donate to IVT, so did the poor ones, and any other tax paying citizen in Clinton County.

You need to get better educated about things before you get on here and blow crap up people's asses.

In others words, stay mired in the past. Gotcha.
That is exactly part of the problem. The people that IVT would benefit the most, low income, are trained from one generation to the next how to suck social services dry to avoid having to get off their @sses and work. As long as this is allowed they will never care to better themselves. IVT will never make it here for that reason.

I'll take that money too. Why? Because I will get taxed on some of it. Which helps people like you.

Watch what the state will do shortly... They will put into place a bill that deals with "manufacturing" on farm land. Not the agriculture stuff, but electric. Guess what??? More taxes for me and lowered taxes for you. I'll take that.

I'll also take it because it is clean energy being manufactured?

You want something to really complain about??? How about WELFARE??? How about unemployment benefits that go past a one year time frame??? How about other govt handouts that people abuse the sh!t out of???

Get off my and other farmers a$$. Don't eat any meat, vegetables, fruits, breads, milk products, if you don't like us. That, my uneducated friends, is how you hurt a farmer... quit eating his stuff and we will be stuck with "leftovers".

But then again, we can sell it overseas and make a crapload amount of money because they love what farmers do for them. The Govt does well on the export taxes they charge as well.

Ask every business owner in Frankfort if they want growth. Does anybody on here understand what capitalism is.Seems like all the people on here are only worried about paying a penny more in tax than having a growing community. Its not a question of whether we should be pro-active or not,we MUST. Why do you think all the new car lots are gone? Why do you think all the big stores are gone? Why do you think all the down town stores are gone? There is ONLY one answer,PROGRESS!Thank god this mayor knows this fact!!!!!!!!and has the education to make it a reality. I am a business owner with HOPE.

Dumb!!! and a new IVT, canal walk, parking garage and theater will not bring back whatever big stores and car dealers you are referring to. Sorry, won't work. Hell, Mayor McBarnes may open a new car lot that the city will own just show progress no matter if it would fail or not on your tax dollar..

All these supposed farmers that have come out of the woodwork to lambaste my comment concerning their utter dependence on government largess sure don't. They wouldn't know a free market if it kicked them in the ass because they have never had to compete in anything resembling an open, free market. Big Daddy government is there to bail them out, make sure they can compete.

again a dumb-ass response from a dumb-ass.

farmers can sell grain, livestock, and other things they raise to whoever they want. we dont have to sell if we want to. but for some reason, they feel the need to feed freakin idiots like you.

we compete with each other, north american markets both public and private, and overseas market as well.

your just pissed because you a moron and am losing every ludicrous arguement you try to offer up.

so ivt will bring a big business to town? building a canal will make local businesses profitable?

the car lots left because people want good service and honesty. like what your messiah chris tries to act like he's doing. it has nothing to do with lack of a school or a canal, or more parking.

tearing down old buildings isnt helping either.

having business owners cheat their customers and employees doesnt either.

one local business is raking it in from a local board all the while not showing them a return on the initial monthly fee.

mind telling me what big stores left frankfort? the old jc penney's? shanklins? help me out here.

when taxes get collected, blight areas get cleaned up, power players get de-throned, and the commoner has a voice once again, then frankfort has a chance.
your as moronic as punjab is.

If the market is as free as you claim then why is farming so subsidized? Why are farmers paid more or less by the government to grow certain crops, or sometimes paid not to farm a plot of land at all? It is so government can control the price.
