she is terrible to listen to and to look at. what is she doing on this show? if the only thing you can sing is growly rocker chicks songs, this isn't the right venue. this shows a serious lack of talent if you can't jump outside of a particular genre.
Actually Amanda has a great range i've heard her sing everything under the sun. But this is the type of music she likes to perform and good for her that she doesn't feel that she has to change because people like you don't like her "particular genre". I know a number of people who enjoy listening to her and even though i may not like the same type of music she does i still appreciate her talent and courage to be different. She could sing like all of the other contestants if she wanted to but she chooses to be different. RESPECT THAT!

What part of "it was a drill" dont you ppl get?? And they had run the drill SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY BEFORE AI EVEN CAME ON. Not to mention they had run REAL EAMs just a few weeks before with tornado watch/warnings and flood warnings. Just seems to me there would be a better time to test the system than during prime-time tv. But what do I knnow?
prime time tv is the perfect time to test it because that is precisely when most people are watching.

I'm amazed that she's survived this long on the show. I'd like to hear her sing something that doesn't involve angry rocker chick screaming/gargling. I'm not sure if I'm more horrified that she represents IN or that she represents us nurses, too.
she isn't our state representative. stop looking so far into this

i enjoy all kinds of music and my ipod with 12,000+ songs shows that. i like rocker chicks that are talented and good looking.

i don't disagree that she can perform in her genre, but she has no range. this is the wrong place for her to be. she should be singing at rodeo's and bar-b-que's not on stage with some of the cute girls on idol. take kristy lee cook (i think that's her name) for example. she's really cute and can sing just about anything. then look at amanda. not cute, can only sing songs where a rough voice fits. think of the songs she's sang on idol and tell me if there is a pattern.

I thought she was great, it was the perfect song for her! The film industry has talked about doing a movie
about Janis Joplin for years but the actresses I keep hearing about are all too old or not that talented. This girl could do Janis perfectly and Hollywood should be noticing her.
Sorry I'm not ripping this girl to shreads like the rest of you bitter hilljacks. You people must be terrible to know; I'll bet you never say an encouraging word to anyone - you know that's just a reflection of what you think about yourselves!!

Yeah, she's a one-trick-pony, but her trick is VASTLY superior to any of the other girls, except maybe that tattooed Irish girl. She has a very unique tone, stage presence, and (thankfully) great taste in rock & roll.

Maybe the rest of you folks want to see sappy ballads and country songs from the girls, but I'm sick of the status quo.

She CAN sing. Her tone is great, and yes, she hits notes. Sorry if you don't like the raspy rocker voice, but trust me, millions of guys LOVE IT.

In fact, I do like Joan Jett's music. This chick butchered it! Had she sang some crap I don't care about, I would not have expressed an opinion.

Are enamored by her Indiana roots, her hair, or her style...because it certainly can't be her voice???

personally, I'm kind of sick of hearing her perform the same raspy style over and over. I don't think she can do anything else and that will be her downfall. I don't think she's that good anyway.

The girl can sing?! It sounded like she gargled with broken glass before performing!! I hope she is a better nurse than a singer. But this is coming from someone who cannot understand for the life of me the appeal of American Idol. I can feel brain cells dying when I see clips of it on Fox 59 Morning News.
Well said! And funny!!!

As for you Old Granny, if Joan Jett is her genre, I would HATE to see her sign anything that required a vocalist.....

Her tone is great? She hits notes? We must not have been listening to the same person. All I heard was gravel in a blender.

I think she can sing but I think she is being a bit "too true" to herself. My guess is she isn't about winning but getting the exposure that may lead to her getting signed to do what she does.

Well unfortunately we missed most of Amanda's song here0 in central Indiana since they were running a dumb "emergency tornado drill action message." It cut in right at the beginning of her song, then came back right as she got done.
You can see her performance on YouTube.

People like her is why Idol has lasted as long as it has. The public does not want the same plain girl look with the same old boring voice. Besides her hair colors I think she is pretty hot (nice body and face). I have to admit up until this point I have not been impressed by her singing, but last night I thought she was GREAT. Keep up the good work Amanda and make Indiana proudÂ…

Ever hear of Melissa Etheridge? Ummm, she'd done okay just singing growly rocker chick songs. Don't think she has any trouble making car payments.

At least Amanda's not some cookie cutter blonde.

Again, you're welcome to your opinion. Millions of Americans obviously disagree with you. Did you ever listen to Joplin? Could she sing in your opinion. Millions of people can't stand Bob Dylan claiming that guy can't sing a lick. Yet, millions of people love his singing. I believe the best word here to describe the difference of opinions is "taste".

This is BY FAR the Worse American Idol of all times...The guys are pitiful; NONE CAN REALLY SING...

Ladies: Are a joke...

Why is it that it's only 1 black person in the final and 3 black women in the final 24?

We need more than pop, rock-n-roll, and heavy metal singers....THIS IS A JOKE....
