If they want them eliminated from public schools, then we need to eliminate everything associated with them. If they want to be forgotten, we dont need people like them dragging down our country
It sounds like you're saying that by removing these sports logos it will destroy the history connected to the imagery or the logo. As if the logo and history are inseparable. And if that' the case how come the Black culture has thrived? They don't have sports teams "honoring" them, how are we to know the history connected to them?

I am an adult living in Colorado and often wear clothing, jewelery and foot wear that is of Native American design. Many Native American persons have commented on how they are in approval of this sharing of the cultures. I have been respected and in such return with the same.It is time to stop and think of the greater issue here.I am White

So,...If you're going to illiminate these logos at the high school level, you can't stop there,...because then you'll be descriminating!!! What about collage teams like the Seminoles???,...Or Professional teams like the Kansas City Chiefs???, or the Washington Redskins???,... Atlanta Braves???,...Cleveland Indians??? Ya gonna take 'em ALL on???
It's sad how a few thin-shelled individuals can make life miserable for those of us who let silly things like this run off our backs!
COME ON!!! There are more serious problems in life to worry about!!!

Again the term Indian was a European label or reference as stated by Rain and others.Since this is the case, and we refer by many names or labels to describe any element, car, auto, hot rod ect.His race origin is also. Native American, Indian,Native peoples ect.I wonder if he ever describes anything by more than one word. At first it seemed he objected to the word INDIAN because it generalizes all tribes into one and doesn't allow for the individual to be recognized. I see this as his little game.TO BE RECOGNIZED. Well he has been given plenty of recognition and still is having problems, with understanding his own cause when he himself displays behavior in direct contrast to his complaint.

Type in Shawnee Indians and see for yourself, the wear,head-wear and depictions then look at Rains complaint and decide for yourself if it is justified. Many things are in contradiction with his statements

America needs to chill with the political correctness issue. 20 years nobody cared if your mascot was a "red raider" (Indian), a "trojan" (warrior) or Pirate. Now a days, we can't have red raiders because it's "offensive to native americans" a trojan because it "promotes condoms" or a pirate because it "is a slang term for a homosexual" Grow up people.

ONCE AND INDIAN... ALWAYS AN INDIAN! Mukwonago High School has been the Indians for over 90 years! Now there taking it away! what is up with this? just because 1 person complained because he was "offended". Mukwonago is an Indian word, are we gonna have to change our town name now too because it might offend the Indians? That’s all you see in Wisconsin is Indian names, I think the names "Milwaukee", "Waukesha", "Oconomowoc", "Kinnickinnic" and a few thousand other place names in Wisconsin are Native American words or names. are we going to have to stop saying "Indian Summer" because it offends the Indians? I could go on and on about what else can "offend" Indians. Why don’t we ask the Indians themselves how they take it instead of the people that like to complain about things! Im sure the REAL Indians are honored. Mukwonago High School RESPECTS Indians and there proud to be called the Indians too! Why did the boy that complained wait until 2 months before his senior year was over? If it was such a big deal then why were they the Mukwonago Indians in the first place? Why is he the only so called Indian to complain? if it was really an issue there would've been way more then 1 complaint, and it would've been changed a long time ago. As far as i'm concerned ALL Indians should be honored that Mukwonago calls themselves the Indians with PRIDE and nothing else. How many other things are named after Indians in this state? A LOT. That's not fair if Mukwonago has to change there school mascot. Why does the person that complain always get there way, THAT'S JUST WRONG!!!! Whats gonna happen to the Muskego Warriors? East Troy Trogans? ect. Are they going to have to change there mascot because it might offend other groups of people? EVERY School mascot has potential to offend anyone! But NO mascot is meant to offend any group of people! People need to learn to deal with it! EVERYONE that has/is attending mukwonago high school is VERY disappointed because this is the most ridiculous complaint everyone has ever heard! why don't you try compromising with mukwonago high school and work something out? all it takes is a big sign on the school saying how they respect indians, so then the indians cant be offended and have no right to complain! There is a law that says we cant offened anyone.. but there is also a law that says we have the freedom to express ourselves, and that's just how MHS expresses themselves!

I think that choosing an Indian mascot is showing respect and praise to the American Indians and their culture. It's especially appropriate,as "Mukwonago" is an Indian word. What's next? Are we to rename all of our cities and towns that have Indian names?
I think we have some overly sensitive people here, or... someone is just trying to stir things up.
Is this for you to decide? Are you telling Native Americans how they should think and act?...Hasn't this been the source of the problem all along? This is how WE think, and why WE can't understand why everyone else doesn't see it our way.

Perhaps if we hadn't wiped out Indians in the 19th century and forced the rest to live on reservations, we could take having an Indian mascot as a sign of "respect" a little more seriously. It's never a good idea to have an ethnic group as a mascot -- it's inherently demeaning -- an I very much include Notre Dame's "Fighting Irish" in that category.

Read the magazine UP Front and maybe you will hear from Full Blooded Native Americans. These people have not been infused with a partial White reality. You can read for yourself what They feel is best for themselves instead of having more White America intruding on the values they hold sacred. The complaining parties in this issue are partially white. While there are those who feel pride in being represented at a school or athletic franchise there are those who do not.The issue of the complaint reveals that the passion from the use of a White perception of early Native Americans is negative and bad yet all you hear from those who use it are pride and admiration of the symbol. Negativity is often internalized only by those deep-rooted in personal conflict. There are many in support of the symbol, Please read Up Front and receive two sides to this.
