Just a slight nudge to help you re-focus your thoughts. You are heading back down the avenue of absolutes with your "guillotines for the entirety of congress" statement. There are now some new members who are trying to effect change. If we can continue to nominate real people and not payoff queens, we will be starting down the road to recovery.
I would suggest a rule which states, "No Member of Congress can be a Lawyer." You could add banker, stock broker, etc. to weed out the special interest folks.
My grandfather advocated lining all lawyers up against a wall and shooting them.which is totally ridiculous.who has that many bullets?....

Waco,

I believe to effect real change, the type of change America HAS to have to survive, requires Obama to win re-election. As everyone is aware, the second term of any president is when they go wild pushing their extremist agenda be it conservative or liberal.

You travel throughout this land so you are aware of the overall sentiment of the common folks. If bigger and more intrusive government is rammed down our throats during Obama's second term, what do you think will occur?

I already know and I believe it will be necessary to right the ship.

Incidentally, if Romney is elected the same response would occur, but it would be a couple of years further down the road. At this point there does not appear to be an answer with the major candidates we now have as choices.

Why are we sending troops to Africa as we speak? Do you think we should pull these troops back home? Don't try to tell me you believe the spin put out by the media or the DOD. I have two relatives currently deployed to Africa and they're not two of just a couple hundred military personnel.
Apparently they are headed to Kenya to recover some recently discovered documentation which might cause political pain for an unnamed U.S. politician. It seemed to be very hush-hush type stuff.

Anyone have a response to sending troops to Africa? Many think we need to cut military spending, so why are we sending troops to Africa? The silence is deafening and no one, especially the POTUS is saying anything about it.

Truth....I'm not totally dim....mark my words....Americans are getting desperate...the time will come...and right soon..when Americans are going to be ripe for dramatic change....maybe the rise of a nationalistic third party....It happened in Germany after the fall of the Weimer Republic...it could happen here if unemployment does not slacken...personally I see storm clouds over America...that could make WWII a day at the park....our children and grandchildren....may reap the folly of our actions today...and in the near future..

Drastic situations sometimes call for drastic measures. The possibility of a good rat being in the grainery is so small that the benefit of getting all the bad ones is worth the risk to the one or two rumored to have traces of honesty. Voting them out will not work because of the recent supreme court decision to allow elections to be bought by the highest bidder. I think the time for the French solution has arrived.

I googled "Current US troops in Africa" and came back with nothing about it. What troops? Which country (or countries) in Africa? For what reasons? Be more specific.

Waco,

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you may be the most commonsensical person on this forum. You continually downplay your education yet continually come up with the piece de resistance in most discussions.

I think things will be much better within ten years. The first nine may be somewhat punky, but after that it will be paradise compared to what is happening now.

TSF....blood is blood.....I detest violence.....but violence doesn't make distinctions....think a minute.Do you realize the implications of a French Revolution...in an American version? Do you realize the old scores people would be trying to even up in a revolution? It would be a monumentally larger version of Attica.....where prisoners took revenge on fellow prisoners..or....Yugoslavia... .there's nothing sanitary about a revolution in the 21st century....

Ron Paul actually let the cat out of the bag during one of the debates. This article minimizes the amount of troops being deployed. I believe the Marines at Camp Lejuene that have been and are being deployed will differ with this article. The deployments are six month deployments and I don't think it's "to gather information".

Bacon, Joseph Kony is perpetuating genocide on thousands. Do we decide to send advisors (which 100 soldiers would amount to) to help stop the evil operation of his regime, or do we just pass by and let happen whatever happens? Ron Paul would probably say that this is unnecessary. I feel that this is an exclusive UN issue to persue in the interest of the international community.

Arnold, look at the date on the article, 10/11. Arnold, troops are being deployed from Camp Lejeune and they're in excess of 100. The troops being sent aren't what we'd call "advisors". My issue with bringing this issue up, is that many posters on here don't like paying for two wars and believe we shouldn't police the country. The Taliban is funding Kony and the Taliban also was riding roughshod over people of Iraq and Afghanistan and our country on our soil. If we need to cut military spending, then let's call it quits in every country and bring out military home. Everyone seems to think if we cut military spending, this will help social programs at home and our people. Sorry Arnold, it look like we can't have our cake and eat it too. How does the U.S. pick and choose what country gets help and what country doesn't?

Based on its own self interest and popular opinion.
