I hope he gets and serves the full 12 yrs. A law should be passed that if you run from the cops--for any reason--you should get an additional 5 yrs tacked on to your sentence.

Very funny. He won't get the time he is sentenced to. This is a travesty of justice and the norm. My condolences to the family for this double injustice. Legal maneuvering at its best.

The lives of innocents come cheap here in The Land Of Murder... I mean Enchantment. I wonder if the family members still blame the police now that the fleeing felon has admitted his guilt? The killer should be put to death. The victims should be memorialized and never forgotten. The police chief should be given a commendation and the family members who tried to blame him are little better than the killer himself.

Good idea but an additional 25 is more like it.

Plea Deals like these are one of the reasons people DO NOT take DWI's serious. It is a shame how cases get pleaded just to get a conviction.
I am sorry for the survivors of the two victims and my heart goes out to them.
12 years for two lives is just plain not enough.
I guess the District Attorney didn't have enough evidence to fully pursue the case with confidence.
A sad day for Jurisprudence indeed.

One reason why the criminals laugh at the system, is because they can get away with it easy. They know there are things such as plea agreements. Why should anyone who commits a crime have a privilege to plea? There should be no pleas, it only makes things easy? For the ciminal! What about hearing a plea for the victims and their families!

BS!!!!!!!!!! NO PLEA DEALS in homocide cases...none! IF a deal is made, it MUST include life w/o parole!

Shame on our judicial system!

blah blah blah, 12 years isn't enough, let's get him the death penalty, blah blah blah...
For all of you saying 12 years isn't enough, how well do you think any of you would do after a dozen years in the pokie? I'm sorry 2 people died, but 12 years is a long time to be locked up.

Ok... You make a good point. The lives of two people you love are probably only worth 12 years.

When a person has nothing intelligent to say, "blah blah blah" says it very articulately.

Good evening and thank you for your comment.
From your comment I deduce you have not lost anyone to a violent crime, accident (not their own fault) or otherwise.
You did express your sorrow over the two victims demise and I thank you for that brief moment of your time.
Facts are though the victims will never again do things we all take for granted. The older victim will not tell stories to the grandchildren. The younger victim will never grow up to be a parent and grandparent.
I have a proposal for our legislators.
Anyone found guilty, or or entering a plea of guilty should be sentenced to the amount equal of the victim(s) life expectancy minus the age of the victim. So if the victim could have (barring health issues etc.) lived to age 75, was killed by a perpetrator at age 25, the sentence would be 50 years with out parole. In this case the sentence for the death of one of the victims would have been very low, for the child's death however the sentence would have been 65 plus years.

You are correct - 12 years is a long time. But - what about the family of the people he killed. 12 years will come - he will get out of jail and enjoy life. The dead people will still be gone for 13, 14, 15 years, forever!!!!!!! They will never enjoy life again. Their family will never see them again! I don't feel sorry for killers like this. Maybe you were in the slammer too since you feel this way.

That is a slap on the hand!
Something is very wrong with New Mexico's judicial system; human life is worth nothing!
Legislators need to make some radical changes, the time just doesn't fix the crime!

Not that I don't think this is important, but am wondering why KOB-TV thinks it is news today...especially when it was reported in the newspaper three days ago.

This is definitely one time KOB can't say "you heard it here first..."

Some of the family members blame the cop more than the guy facing only 12 years. Even after viewing the videotape of what the POS did. Believe it or not!

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
