Sad about the older lady, but talk about natural selection! It's even sadder that the animals had to die for her obvious craziness. Officials should have been empowered to do more about this situation before it came to this.

I agree with Raysmom's statement that officials should have more power to stop such actions. It is not only dangerous to the person that feeds such animals but also to the entire neighborhood. We live in a wooded area near Ouray, CO and I almost afraid to go outside and work on my one acre back yard, constantly watching out for bears around. We never leave trash outside. We wash our cans out before putting them into the trash for the reason not to attract bears. Not even an empty coke can stays outside on the deck over night. I wish people would take more precaution.

People who feed bears are just self inflicting themselves into a fast death. We have been told time after time year after year yes these are wobnderful beautiful animals but yes they are very dangerous and much stronger than ourselves. They are put into the wilds by god for a reason dont take that right away from him

we have a bear problem in this area also. bears no longer have fear of humans and the humans think it is cool having them dumpster diving.we have a crew of kids that pick up the trash by the dumpsters in raton after bear raids. i hate to say this but i am amazed we have not lost any kids here.

bears(mature) need 20,000 calories this time of year to be ready for hibernation. don't be an easy meal or provide food for bears.

Why some people take a chance to risk their lives with the wild life I can't figure out. They are not tame at all. Wild life are wild for a reason to hunt for their food and not depend on man kind.

I just thought of something. Where's PETA? You all know PETA right? That's People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. You know the liberal wackos that like to stalk women wearing coats made of animal fur, then they throw red paint on them to symbolize the blood of the animal whose fur is now a coat. Where are they? Why aren't they out protesting that an animal was eating a human? So I guess that's ok by them. It's okay for an animal to kill and eat a human, but not visa-versa! I think I'll start my own PETA group. Except, my PETA will stand for People who Eat Tasty Animals!!!

Captain, if YOU'RE going to call someone stupid, make sure that YOU'RE properly spelling the common contractions in your post, or YOU'RE going to look like the stupid one.

An electric fence charger does a good job of discouraging bears from a wired area. I have used a charger system for years with great results.

The story cannot be true. Anybody who has watched the football season so far Knows that Bears don't hurt anyone,(the woman's body was probably intercepted by a Raven).

Maybe it was an old Bear.
Refrigerator Perry maybe?
He might've been capable of this.
