I think the bill that is going to the senate is ridiculous to control private clubs from receiving a license.

The ABC board is group that makes the decisions not a group of good ole boys without the education and experience to do so in a non partial way.

What they are doing is taking the control away from the ABC board and making them obsolete.

Missy Irvin is among the supporters of this i wonder how she is going to like not getting re-elected, i bet Anglers has several thousand members in the county by now and i bet they would all vote against her if asked to.

If we let this pass what will be next ? Do you want the city council to decide they way you live ? i sure don't !

I go to anglers all the time. Chris is a friend, but this bill is correct. If Im going to be governed by law, why would I want some Pompous Elitist from Little Rock state the rules. Better the people who live in this community decide what is best for this comunity.

The laws on private clubs were written by our legislature and require posting an intent in local papers for 60 days, hearings and many other things. Weight is given to local officials to weigh in on whether a private club permit is to be issued or not. Weight is not given to people who object solely on their moral objections to alcohol. They simply don't have to drink. I was at the Anglers license hearing and supporters and non supporters were pretty evenly split. This proposed law is simply people from a few churches trying to dictate to the rest of the citizenry without any jurisdiction to do so. The success at Anglers is testimony enough that the old guard who controls the political power doesn't represent the people of Stone County.

Anglers has over 7000 members. Not all I am sure are from Stone County, but I believe that is an impressive number. I too am included in that number.

Now that Missy Irwin and her conservative cohorts have managed to place legal abortions in Arkansas under threat she follows up with this notion of reverting back to Blue Law days. Her next move will be chastity belts for any female under the age of 21. You give these self-righteous 'do gooders' an inch and they go for a mile.

A little Deceiving because everybody that goes in there to eat they have them fill out a membership card! And if you check I don't believe all of them are over 21 They don't even ask if you're 21 or over

I am just relating the number of members. I have been there with my wife and she has never applied for a membership. I don't know if people are lying that is just the number I saw on a brand new membership.

The only reason this Bill even has support in Stone County is because the rich folks are butt hurt because they can't have they're own way.LOL

If you are a member you can bring as many guests as you want without their having to become members. The private club law states that everyone entering the private club has to be "either a member or the guest of a member".

The old folks around here, need too realise things are going to change even if they dont want it. This town is far behind in culture and stuck in its old ways. Things need to change. The old and wise isnt whats always best we need the newer generations making the decisions around here now.

Dumbass, I very much doubt you speak for most people. Most people didn't want to pay the 1 cent city sales tax the city levied a few years back to help city people keep there water rates cheap. County rates are still high, and many of us have our own water wells. Three quarters of the county population were not even able to vote on it. These are some of the things that need to change when the do nothing old guard is finally voted out of power.

Sorry don't care for that either I was talking general area not in the "City"! The folks that live in the far reaches of the county are mostly true natives not the city slickers in town! Lol
