"According to the WhiteHouse web site at WhiteHouse.gov , by Monday morning, 20 states have begun petitions to the White House to secede from the nation since President Barack Obama was reelected on Nov. 6, 2012".
Are all you wingers out there ready to give up all your entitlements and go it alone. No more SSI or SS checks, no more FEMA etc. If so go to the website and sign the petition.

It will take a little more effort than a petition signed by a bunch of unhappy voters to make succession happen. I hope they bought LOTS of bullets cause it will get real ugly.

I read Texas has garnered over 50000 signatures. If I remember my Texas history correctly, yes I spent part of my time growing up in Texas, It is the only state that reserved the right to withdraw from the republic if it chooses to as a condition of statehood. I don't think it will, but if over 51% of the residents voted to withdraw, then it would have the legal right to do so. Not so with Arkansas though.

Yea Obummer was re-elected, with less votes than John McCain got in 2008. Not really a majority, but proof positive that if you give people eough FREE SH*T, they'll vote for anyone.

"Residents in more than 30 states have filed secession petitions with the "We the People" program on the White House website.

Petitions to strip citizenship of individuals signing onto petitions to secede and exile them have also been submitted.

A threshold of 25,000 signatures must be met within 30 days for petitions to be reviewed. The Obama administration explains, "If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response."

Iffy, quit making things up! McCain got 59934K votes in 2008 to Obama's 62284K in 2012. McCain got more votes in 2008 59934K to Romney's 58906 in 2012.

lol If Texas were to secede, they would very quickly become a third world nation. It's ironic that most of the states with secession petitions are ones that rely on the Federal government the most.

I guess these secessionists long for the days in the South when everything was owned by a handful of rich white guys, and everyone else was as poor as dirt, and had no rights. The good ole days. lol What a bunch of ignorant morons. They would chop off their own nose, just to spite their face.

I believe the United States is still one of the best places in the world to live. But we are not without our problems, socially and financially. For someone to say that if you don't like a particular aspect of American life then just pack up and leave is narrow minded and shortsighted. As a nation of immigrants we should continue striving to change that which is unethical, racist, discriminatory, sexist, or bigoted. The "Love it or Leave it" slogan is outdated and trite.
Also, there is no such thing as a full blooded American unless you're a native American Indian.

If I pay social security taxes for 40-50 years then, yes, I want my entitlement check when the time comes. Who wouldn't?

Iffy, many Republicans including Bonner are calling SS an entitlement program that they want to take away or limit. I think this is about the only thing we have ever agreed on, except for the dumb ass part of course.

Thanks for the dumb ass jab there ifey, you would make one hell of a good neighbor I am sure [sarcasm]. If I pay into a system for decades then, yeah, I am entitled to collect on it. If a kid's dad dies before they're 18 they receive SSI or would you be the one to lick the stamp and send a denial form? You're a great American, ifey [more sarcasm].

Ask yourself this, at the end of the month you kids need new shoes and you have more bills than money. Do you a. go out and get a second job to provide or their needs, or b. go in the basement and print some more money. In your case, probably b.

That is a myth. It cannot secede, but it can slit itself into 4 additional states, including Texas, making it a total of 5.
