The MV School District is made up three different campuses. Which one supposedly cheated? Or was it all three? I would feel safe in saying that it probably wasn't Timbo. The test scores there are ok, but never high enough to be accused of cheating.

Pi are round. Cornpone are squared.

Why am I not surprised that no one wants to discuss this one? Topix people would rather discuss ridiculous nonsense, than to address what could prove to be a very serious issue.

To discuss this item.

Identify the guilty and expell them.

You bring out a good point, but it's doubtful the kids knew anything about it. At least I hope they didn't. Think about it, who is most affected by good or bad test scores?

I don't think the students have the kind of access to cheat on these tests. It is generally teachers & administrators that get in trouble for this kind of activity. That has been the case in Atlanta, and D.C.

The school board must determine who all is involved and fire them.

It's odd how eerily quiet this thread is. This may be the most interesting story on the local forum right now, except for the lack of thread activity.

I don't understand why people are avoiding this subject. Has this news shocked everyone to the point that they are speechless? Surely not, it was bound to happen eventually. This is the result of too much pressure being put upon schools, administrators, teachers, and kids to perform on that idiotic test. Ridiculous! Ask anyone who has had any involvement in preparing for it. Teachers hate it and some kids stress over it to the point of getting physically ill. Does this justify cheating? No, but no one can deny this much importance being put on ONE test can cause otherwise honest people to behave dishonestly. Face it, we all want to keep our schools open, and no one wants to lose a job over it. Again, this doesn't excuse cheating, but it is a reality. As long as schools, educators, and students are being evaluated on the performance of this ONE test, there will be cheating by some.

I'm sure the mountain view public school. The other schools don't have high test scores.

If they honestly suspect cheating then why don't they just send some big dogs in from state to proctor the exam and see how the children do on the test then? If they cheated then obviously the scores would be drastically different if the test is done again and monitored.

I'm sure they will, Maybe. Rural Special also had very high scores, Wow. Why, I agree that the test is silly, and over valued.

I think the story just came out, Bella. A reaction will take a little time. Honestly, though, I will be surprised if much is done, anyway.

Could be, Mel. People don't like to talk about their failures. Especially the possible failures of their children, or even their local institutions. More damaging is when those institutions are the largest provider of jobs in an area.
