Hazleton to alter immigration law

Two months after passing an immigration law that's become the focus of a national debate, Hazleton City Council on Friday gave initial approval to a revamped ordinance designed to survive court challenges. Full Story

I haven't kept track of this situation since Hazleton City Council backed down on its immigration law but I wish people would just realize it is not a law against immigration; it's a law against ILLEGAL immigration. Just what part of ILLEGAL don't these Hispanics understand? Please, give the activists a dictionary with the word ILLEGAL highlighted!!

Penny, I have kept up with the situation in Hazleton. And, it makes no difference whether their ordinance is aimed at legal or illegal immigrants. The fact is that Hazleton lacks the power to make any laws that regulate immigration of any type. The authority of regulating immigration laws rests within the halls of the US Congress. Hazleton cannot assume federal legislative powers under any pretext.

I live in Hazleton and the BS lawsuits which will take hundreds of thousands out of the city resources have nothing to do with regulating immigration, as if a city shouldn't be allowed to do that in the first place. The bill makes English the official language, which is only to say that city forms will NOT be translated into what is only the #4 most common language in the world. This law is similar to the same "English is official" laws that are on the books in at least 29 of our 50 states... Another section of this ordinance stipulates that businesses who aid, knowingly, illegal aliens can, after a warning, lose their city business licence. The third and last component simply states that ALL APARTMENT RENTERS MUST APPLY FOR A PERMIT TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN HAZLETON... This applies to all and costs everyone with the exception of senior citizens 10 dollars. The citizenship will be confirmed as well as to see if they are illegal, non-registered sex offenders or wanted fellons. Apartment owners who choose to rent to anyone without a permit will be subject to a fine of 1,000 a day, per tennant. Face it, Hazleton has gone down the toilet in the 5 years of MASSIVE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Crime is through the roof. We went from being a small boring town with few violent crimes to one that suffers from gangs, drive by shootings, muggings, car theft, vandalism & HORRIBLE PUBLIC MURDERS... Why does this bother ANYONE? The official "representatives" of these people have done things, officially, like suggest that our hospital system accepts "bartering" for medical services, for the latinos only. Another spokesperson insisted that "we will NEVER become anglos..." The ordinance IS FAIR, and more imporantly RIGHT AND THE ONLY HOPE WE HAVE TO KEEP THE TOWN FROM TURNING INTO SOMETHING RESEMBLING THE THIRD WORLD IN THE FIRST PLACE...

I'm from Riverside NJ and was wondering what is going on up in Hazelton. As you know, we also have the new ordinance on the Illegal issues. This town is small, one mile square and the overpopulation made it look very, very crowed. Since the ordinance, it's pretty much cleared out. So much tension down here between people. We have red-reck racists making us look bad.

Don't worry this last election put these red neck goat roppers on the ropes. Hispanics voted over 70% Democrat and now the Democrats rule. Fox news also reported that Republicans are in danger of losing the hispanic vote for the next 100 years! Amnesty and less bigotry. Also Fox news had one of those bigoted 1/2 minutemen crying that it's over poor bigot.

Barletta is a communist that wants to change the bill of rights. He is a small town Mickey Mouse mayor with a major mental problem. Hazletown residents should wake up and send this clown back to Sicily.
