I think that maybe Dave makes a good point; people in cities just aren't as married to guns as rural people are. And I've seen absolutely no evidence to suggest that gun-control measures taken in large, metropolitan areas with very high homicide rates (DC and Philly) would ever boil over into rural America. Yes, I see the concern, but I think it's unfounded and over-reaching.

Your second amendment rights are guaranteed and you're surrounded by people who love to hunt and have guns. Stop worrying.

Geez, someone rights up a "they're taking all our guns!" letter and you people start patting each other the backs over how much you agree you hate leftists.

I don't dispute the right of anyone to own firearms in the U.S. What I find disturbing is those posters, especially last week, who would seem to welcome the opportunity to use them to stop some sort of crime. The type of character walking around with this vigilante type attitude should not be carrying because his judgement is suspect.

All I can say to this is ... Amen brother. If the Anti Hunters and Gun Lobbyists would spend as much time and money on monitoring TV and video games as they do fighting the 2nd Ammendment they might just accomplish something. Until then...God bless America...and the 2nd Ammendment.

I hate this ridiculous and unfounded notion that somehow movies, tv and video games are the causes of violence in this country. And this all despite the fact that violent crime among young people has decreased DRAMATICALLY in the past 20 years!

I will never advocate censorship of any kind; blaming the "media" is a cop out and taking responsibility away from parents and perpetrators.

Let me just give a quick example. About two years, an 18 year old David Ludwig from Lititz, PA was involved in a sexual relationship with 16 year old Kara Borden. David grew up in a devoutly religious family in a devoutly Christian community that included Kara. One morning, Kara's father learned of their relationship and invited David to the house, clearly to forbid him from ever seeing their daughter again. After all, this was a very conservative family not unlike Ludwig's own. He brought with him a duffel bag with several firearms including a rifle, some hand guns and a knife. No one knows exactly what happened when he showed up except that he shot and killed Kara's father and then her mother. He and Kara then ran off in Ludwig's mother's car.

This was national news because it marked the first time you could see into the mind of a killer through social networking sites like Myspace. In his, Ludwig professed his love of Jesus, Christian rock music a rejection of secular culture and modern media. He literally grew up in a bubble, yet he committed a heinous act. When police searched his house, they found literally hundreds of firearms in the Ludwig home all owned by David Ludwig's father.

So what drove him to do this? It certainly wasn't violent movies and video games, of which he wanted no part of (and likely was allowed no part of). It probably wasn't even growing up in a bubble of religious conservatism (as much as I'd like to believe that). But you know, it wasn't the guns either. Having the guns didn't make him what he did; HE did it. He had secluded himself from society and rationale thought and did what he simply thought was what he had to do. Perhaps if he'd been allowed to express himself or had been exposed to the harsh realities of the world, this wouldn't have happened either. But really, what it turns out, is no one will really know. But the responsibility, the blame, is not on guns, or culture. It's on him. And while many of you are blaming the media because the media blames guns, maybe you're all wrong. Maybe the blame should always be, as it always has been, on the individual.

Coppy,

There are multiple organizations dedicated to doing just that....banning guns, and we are aware of the incremental mission creep. They have been successful in drowning gun dealers in red tape and harassment to the point we have had a substantial decrease in the number of dealers. They haven't taken our guns, but they take what they can get and they are not letting up the pressure and they have hypocrites like Kennedy, Schumer, and Clinton on their side, all surrounded by armed security of course. The threat is very real and well funded.

Thanks for providing the link Mr. Rotz. I missed that opportunity to post. Saw some frightening posts on there...not from gunners but from those educated, or should I say indoctrinated, by the networks or liberal college professors. All who think being unarmed is a great idea.... walk down 14th Street in D.C. at 2 AM wearing a sparkling gold chain. My nephew was robbed in daylight in D.C. and he's a gunner, disarmed by their insane law.

Dawg, I can't even buy a six pack of beer at a beer distributor or get wine and beer at the same store.

These organizations dedicated to taking your guns are small and insignificant.

And this is not DC. I love that "indoctrined by the networks or liberal college professors."

Ugh, yeah, being educated is such a burden.
