A former Bakersfield Blitz Arena Football player charged with rape learned his fate in an Idaho courtroom Wednesday.

On July 9, 2007, former Bakersfield Blitz player Maurice Troutman was arrested in Boise, Idaho, and charged with felony rape.

On Nov. 17, Troutman was convicted of rape by a Boise jury.

Wednesday, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for felony rape.

He will be eligible for parole in 2013.

Boise Prosecutor Fafa Aligani said one reason for the stern sentence was an absolute lack of remorse on Troutman’s part.

Nick Onaindia, the former Blitz linebacker said, Maurice is 25 years old, and he’s going to be in jail until he’s 45. It kind of really hit home, the decisions that we make. You really have to think about how it’s going to affect the rest of your life because every little decision we make has an impact on us.”

“I never saw this coming, some pretty crazy stuff happens on the road though,” said Blitz receiver Eric Mahanke.“I gotta say though, half of me is really not surprised with half of the stuff that goes on on road trips and stuff like that. It’s a matter of just people taking responsibility for their actions.”

He’s a smart guy,” said Onaindia.“He just made a really bad decision and now he’s got to live with the consequences.”

Fellow Blitz player Rennard Reynolds also remains in a Boise Jail.

((ORIGINAL STORY))
Troutman was convicted of raping a woman in a Boise hotel following the Blitz’s 47-16 loss to the Boise Burn on July 7.

According to prosecutor Fafa Alidjani, Troutman will be sentenced Jan. 23. She said she will seek prison time, but was unsure on the length of the sentence she’ll request.

The trial began Nov. 13 and concluded Friday. The jury’s deliberations lasted about 90 minutes, Alidjani said.

Former Blitz wide receiver Rennard Reynolds, who is charged with felony burglary stemming from the same incident, is scheduled for trial Dec. 4.

The Blitz folded at the end of the season.

Ada County prosecutors said Troutman, Reynolds and the rest of the Blitz team were staying at the same hotel as the victim early on the morning of July 8 when Troutman got the key card to the woman’s hotel room, let himself in and sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutors say the victim was unable to resist because she had taken a sleeping pill and went to bed.

According to prosecutors, Troutman later gave the key card to Reynolds, who allegedly entered the room and removed things of value from the room. Reynolds is facing three counts of felony burglary, Alidjani said.

“It was pretty cut-and-dry,” Alidjani said in a telephone interview Monday.“The fact that they admitted they didn’t know her, that she did not give up the key card.

Alidjani added:“These were complete strangers. It was hard for jurors to sympathize when you commit a crime and steal from them, you say she’s with you willingly and then she doesn’t remember.”

Alidjani said she called “16 or 19” witnesses, including two former Blitz players who she declined to identify.

Dear Reader's:
I am Maurice's sons Grammy. The person who wrote "babies grandmomma long beach" is a liar and perpetrating either me or Maurice's mother. We are the only "grandmomma's", whomever you are. So, stop lying and get a life. Maurice is not perfect and made a mistake. The girl "did" know him and consented and cried rape "after" she had sex with the other team members! Classic Ms. Clairol of the South. No big deal, Maurice will be out in no time and his child is in OUR and his MOM'S loving hands. So, stop lying about God, He hates liars. Also, GO BACK TO SCHOOL DEAR and learn how to spell. Shield yourself and, if u have guts, e-mail me & we'll meet in the back & see whose is Grandma..Sound's like a jilted 1 nite stand!

here yea here yea naysayers, please know the specifics on cases before making statements. his case has been overturned for three years by the supreme court. why? one they saw the lies made by prosecutor and alledged victim. two, they saw the fact he had no idea she was under any influence of anything, three, her blood was never tested for anything and all though im not saying she didnt have anything in her blood you cant just go off peoples word in serious cases like this. impaired rape is a serious issue in our society, but so is sending someone to prison. i for one am glad to see our justice system cleaned up a mess that was made. to maurice i hope you can take advantage of your second chance.

We just covered this case in my Criminal Law case so I wanted to google it and find out more details. You folks are way off when it comes to specifics. What I will say is, in my opinion this case should have never even went to trial. Another case of a prosecutor wanting fame more than justice served, a judge not caring enough to make sure things were done correctly and a defense attorney over worked and under payed. Not only was the ball dropped on his behalf so was the young ladies. Can't wait to take the bar so that I can make sure tax payers aren't paying for people in prison they shouldn't be. This guy

I hope you keep studying, what you forgot to mention is the fact that he admitted that he entered her room with a key that he has NOT given by her, that he was aware he was NOT welcome and that he left and came back 4 times. He also gave the key to additional players to steal items out of her room. If you "covered" this case you should know all of the facts which includes him admitting he what he did.
The reason for a re-trial has nothing to do with lack of evidence....but if you are the one that is studying the LAW then you should know this....RIGHT?
So actually its "folks" like you that are way off, you think your opinion is fact or that you know something about this case that no one else knows. You obviously didn't listen to the hearing because you would have heard his confession to police.
.....and FYI - don't lie! you didn't have to "google it" we both know that you are VERY aware of this case!

Dude (troutman) was an old classmate in school(1999), he was a weirdo.
Thought I saw him in a friend's photo on Facebook (2015)
Googled his name, ran across this article & said 'Hot Damn'

Don't put anything past anyone.
Yeah, that Idaho jury threw the book at the COON and rightfully so.
