Watched the video on the Baxter bulletin website. Officer states he stopped Lewis to tell him about the sign ordance, so does that mean the sign was already up? Is a city ordance violation probable cause to perform a traffic stop? I bet with a little background this could easily be thrown out, all it amounts to is the city didn't get there permit money up front. And officer "Farva" performing what sounds like was an illegal traffic stop in he first place.

The council is hurting local businesses with their sign ordinance. If businesses aren't allowed to advertise they lose business, they then have to shut down or relocate to another city that is sign and business friendly, the city loses revenue and tourism dollars, and the community will eventually shrivel up and blow away. Driving through there is depressing enough as it is. Half the commercial buildings are abandoned, deteriorating, overgrown, and the population has dwindled in recent years.

Twenty years ago it was a pleasant little town. You'd see people walking down the street shopping, visiting with one another, and the whole place was vibrant and pretty. Now it's on the verge of being an eyesore. Does the council and mayor really think they're helping by instituting restrictions on how businesses advertise and draw in visitors? Bull Shoals deserves better. They need to elect business-friendly representatives before there isn't anything left to draw in tourists.
