Hi, i am seeking a individual capable of servicing older "tube" type amplification equipment. I have a few that are in need of work. I'm interested in learning more about the technology in the process. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What exactly are you trying to do? Replacing tubes and things like speaker wires are pretty easy and you can find helpful stuff all over the Internet. If you plan on complete rebuilds, I would recommend finding a kit online where you can build a generic tube amp from scratch, that way you can see exactly how every part is made before you start stripping down a old tube amp that could be worth a lot of money. Hope that helped a little, I'd love to help you myself but I probably won't live in MH until October assuming I can even find a job! haha

Thanks for the response, I have lurked online for knowledge and over the years aquired a decent stable of amps, buckets of tubes, tube testers, meters and such. A local tech from local music store didn't want to service my '70's silverface twin. Said it needed a "cap" job, some resistors replaced, and to be biased to new power tubes I bought. I figured with all the retirees (I'm one) in the area, i might find a elec./radio man that i could pay to tutor me in a dying technology that is part of my hobby. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, it has been several years since I have patronized West Plains Music. I was done wrong on a guitar build project and I had to contact a pick-up manufacturer to enlist their support to resolve the problem. I've never been back. I don't know if different ownership is in place, but, I will contact them for referral to a independant tech. I really want some tutoring on tube technology as much as simple repair service. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm a retired Navy Electronics Tech. Back in 1987 when I joined they were still teaching us about tubes in electronics school. I'm out of town for work until the end of February, but I could look at your amps when I get back and also teach you what I know about tubes (including dusting off and making a copy of my Intro to tubes manual).

Hi, this is good! Thanks for your response. I doubt any of my amps are going anywhere. I can be contacted through message left at Patriot car wash (hwy 62 & mallard point rd.) or Jack's Pkg. in the Harp's plaza. Both places know me and will get word to me. Or e-mail ....
