The reason I ask, is I'm curious if they would be appropriate for a bar mitzvah.

I have used the Highstrung band in shows. Here is my opinion.

if you were to close your eyes and listen to them you would hear a typical garage band sound, with some several members playing music for themselves; not for the band or the listeners. On first glance they look very unprofessional with music stands in front of them, and overweight guitar players sitting down the entire performance. They stand on stage like zombies, play off key and at three different tempos. If you are looking for Pofessional bands in the Harrison area, Check out THE SHOTGUN BILLYS, or WATTZ IT 2 YA. If you are looking for stricly country and want a great band you will never forget check out Brian Odle out of Fayetteville area.

I don't listen to the tempo much, but I do get off on the mustache's. Does anyone know if they are "in the band"? I'd like some of that action!

The High Strung Band has become the Unstrung band, and I swear to the heavens if I ever hear purple rain again I will drink gasoline and swallow a match as I jump off the Empire State Building.Another song white liar? Are you serious? Learn some Carrie Underwood or anything else... Saw you in harrison and I decided to move back north after our last encounter, man that was close!

Only thing I can see is myself haulin ass when they enter the bar! Very very ordinary band with little to no talent, they do however have one guy on a guitar. Maybe plays rythem guitar (not familiar with guitars or positions) this guy has it together. As for the rest, lame. So high octane strings, more for you I guess.

They are not a show band but they play some great music that most people enjoy and come back to see them over and over..They play in several clubs and always have a good following and The club owners keep booking them so they must be doing something right and making them some money...there is always someone out there that find problems with bands or people in general...who give a crap if they have a music stand on stage or a fat guy playing guitar...let us know what venue you manage or own ....if its still in business...

I have to say constructive criticism is great. No one likes to be told their weaknesses, etc., but it helps up recognize things that need improvement. I know the band, and their members. Everyone has opinions, so, I will give mine. First you have to keep in mind these people have day jobs. Music is their passion so they play as often as possible. Sometimes it isn't much, but between jobs and family and personal responsibility doesn't leave a lot of room for a lot of practice. That being said, I think they do a great job on the newer songs they do. They do not have sheet music they are playing by, they do it all by ear. You know how hard that is???? I do. Look around, a lot of very good musicians can play by ear. Famous musicians. When you play live, that means when you miss a beat/note, it's right there, just pick up and play on. Not one band can play all night without a booboo unless you are practicing together every day.
Give you a little background, The overweight guitar player, he has diabetes and congestive heart failure and he can sit all night if he wants to because it is the passion he has for music and playing for others make him happy. The drummer has been playing since he was 9 years old, took drumming lessons from a professional player. He can keep a beat better than most of the other bands I have heard around here. The bass player just recently learned how to play, does awesome for the time he has been playing. The acoustic player has a very demanding day job, does very well. The singer, she has a very strong voice, keeps to her range, which we know a lot of people try to go beyond theirs, and truly loves to share her talent. The lead guitar player does have it together. Young kid, gets heard by the right people could go anywhere. The band is held together by good people with a passion for music and enjoying sharing that with others.
Not everyone can like a band. It is taste and preference. I don't like Country music. I like this band. Their rock songs kick. Purple Rain is a hard song to do, ranges, and who could ever top Prince??? That is their rendition, and it isn't that bad, I say this even though I truly hate a lot of people that take others songs and change them to make them theirs.
Thank you, Merry Christmas.

For anyone on here saying "they suck"...let's see you get up there and do any of what they do. Chances are you can't, and you wouldn't even be able to play a note. For those of you saying that you can't stand their sound or are running out of the bar, why are you there listening? Sounds like jealousy to me. Who cares if music stands are used? Let's see you memorize hundreds of songs and get up there with nothing. I agree, I doubt your business is still open.
