It is also on PRIVATE property (note the fence around it). Trespassers are NOT welcome.

thanks for the tip! never would have known what a fence is for without ya!! lol. I never tresspass because I ask the owners. unlike most people on here I do show respect to others. I love this part of the country and learning all I can about it! we have been goin thru caves from rays riverside resort (if u know that one?) working our way towards grove. people here are very nice and have never said no after I talk to them and I always bring trash bags to pick up any trash I find. guess I was trying to find the owners house without going to a platt book. we also research "knights of the golden circle" and metal detect old homesteads. another project is maping a wagon trail from licking to junction 17 & M hwy. If anyone has info on any of this it would be great!

thanx!

I realize you were simply asking for information. Being new to this area, you may not realize that not everyone works off of the same foundation of respect of property boundaries--especially the type that frequently post on this site (I monitor this site for any posts relating to family/friends that need to be removed.) You might be surprised to know how many people in our fine area do NOT know the meaning of a fence, so please don't take that remark personally. I felt compelled to reply to your post as a reminder to other 'curious' people who may not respect those property boundaries, and who might become more 'curious' as a result of your inquiry. Your interest is appreciated; however, the first reply is correct, in that the cave is not manueverable (sp?) more than a few feet past the opening (a fact verified by representatives from a pre-2000 DNR inspection upon the property owners' request).

I share similar Hobbys mr jackass. As I too am recently moved here to enjoy my freedoms that most other states have lost. This is a nice place, but like any other small town it is embedded with old grudges, family feuds and malicious gossipers. I'm looking to buy a high end metal detector, any suggestions??

Go to the Gasconade river off E why. From grove go 95 north turn right go about 7 to 8 miles E hwy will be right after bridge go right about 4 to five miles. You will hit low water bridge. There to left of bridge about 200 to 300 yards down and about 70 yards up bluff old cave. Public property. Use to run a small water fall there. Good luck hope this helps

YOU need to get a job, pay taxes and after purchasing your OWN property re-think what you just posted.

I remember when kids used to skip school and hang out in that cave close to the treatment plant. A very long time ago, in a much simpler life.

The cave that someone mentioned up on E Highway...How do you know that it is public property? It looks like private property to me.

I do have a job, pay taxes and have my own property. YOU need to study the pacts that us Natives have with this country and see that we can travel freely wherever we please. Go hit the history books kid.

out by the treatment plant is browns cave and it is supposed to run under all of mountain grove and 1 exit on the old star hill which is on south clouse street.i was told this years ago and the cave behind the lucky seven is actually a storm drain.used to hide there and skip school, smoke cigs and loaf all day, down by pleasant hope is a mud cave with names and dates from the 30`s.its private prop tho.go north to competion and find mayfield springs on gasconade it has a nice cave behind the slough on your left on your way in.its a 2 story cave...personaly,boogers n bears and such live in caves so i dont go past the light myself

The cave by the treatment plant is Davis cave.I grew up a short walk from there.my friends an me use to go there all the time.it's use to go back about 100yards give or take a few. There is also a good cave over by the township little piney.just south of fort wood.it's called ryden cave I think.it's public land an a good cave to go in.there is also a huge sinkhole inbetween evening shade an the back gate to fort. Turn on pump station road to the left about amile or so out of evening shade go to the top of the hill.it's about amile there will be trails on your left the one you go down use to have sum old sheetrock on it.org called hummingbird sinkhole.there are several on your way down the trail.but there is 2 huge ones. Both public. if you like those things then those are must see.I know many more places like these
