Saturday night November 21 was my first time going to the movies here at Mtn. Grove. Lets just say....I WILL NOT recommend anyone to go there. I pre-purchased my tickets before hand so this was not the problem. Standing in line not even 10 feet away is pool tables and people smoking. I am an ex smoke and find this to quite disgusting ! The Snack Bar attendant very un friendly, she was also the ticket collector. We waited in line for over an hour to see the movie and she has the audacity toi hold the line up even more by checking peoples bags. It his even legal ??? Thank-God I don't carry purses into the movies. The seating is very comfortable ..hoiwever if you are a shorter person like myself you see hald the persons head in front of you and about six inces of the screen is missing. Thanks-Goodness the girl in front of me was snuggled down with her boyfriend so I could see the whole screen. Overall I give the Theater on a scale of 1-5 5 being the best......Clean 4 Comfort 5 Atmosphere 1 (because of the Smoking and the employees attitude)
Ok enought said...I just needed to vent. Thanks!

My goodness you are pretty steamed about this! I have to disagree with you though. I have always had a very nice time at this particular theater. I think your experience may have been so bad because it was a very busy weekend...TWILIGHT :)!!! I had heard that they were searching bags because there were some trying to sneak alcohol in, but I have never been searched and I have NEVER had to wait. The whole atmosphere thing is a personal opinion...it doesn't bother me, I hardly even notice it, but I know it does bother others...maybe if the owner knew he could tell them not to smoke out front by the pool tables? Maybe try contacting the theater because I think it is a nice place and that you should definately give it another try!

i agree with you completely. at first i was excited that mountain grove had a movie theatre and was let down quickly. the seats were comfortable i will admit but the people are jerks. and the way they have it laid out is just retarded, the bowling alley is stupid the way its laid out and the way you have to go by the pool tables and the way you have to go to get to the theatres is unnecessary. when i went they didnt know how to adjust the screen so everything was real fuzzy. my fiancee went friday night to watch twilight and her and her party were not pleased at all. it was 2 peoples first time going to that theatre and both said they will never go back they'll go to either springfield or west plains. and i wonder if they know that it is not legal to go through their purses/bags before the movie. when my fiancee asked why they felt the need to check her purse and she said "just open your purse and things will be a lot easier" that made me furious and unless some drastic changes are made they wont get my business ever again and i have a feeling that im not the only one who feels this way

I'm really not steamed up about it...I was just voicing my opinion. I think the owners need to realize that smoking up front could cause a lot of people not to come. Small children go there as well as people on oxygen , and other health issues anddo not need to be breathing second hand smoke. I do realize this business it still new and they are under construction...perhaps they should hire some people who can deal with the public and not be so rude an nasty. I hope an pray they do make some changes...because I actually really enjoyed not having to drive so far to see a movies and I would love to keep my business local. thanks for you reply ! God Bless

I hope that they can make the changes too, for the sake of their business. I don't think the owner realizes what a big issue the smoking out front is or is aware of the rudeness of staff. I personally have never had any issues with anything at this theater, but maybe I just got lucky! I think it is really nice to have something like this locally. Hopefully the owner will catch wind of this and take the comments into consideration.

I just realized something..you are right..the owner may not know any of this...and I know he cannot control the actions of his employees , so I think it is my duty as a potential customer to make the owner aware. This is one think I am good at ..voicing my opnion. LOL Seriously though I would love to see the ConXtion Entertainment be a success.

Can they really look inyour purse? I think that is against the law, however, if you do not comply, then they can ask you to leave since they have the right to refuse service to anyone they want in the end. Not fair, but they do have the upper hand.

no, you have the upper hand! you do not have to give them your business.this is where they need an usser while the movie is playing. sherry can be very rude and for the smoking.....maybe everyone should have waited in the long line outside. i am not a smoker but i do believe everyone should have the same rights.its not the smokers fault someone couldn't design the place better to suit you.

To "CAN THEY" yes, they have every right to search your "bags" they DO NOT however have the right to search your persons. Why are they searching bags at a Movie Theatre anyways? Are they afraid someone is actually going to Pirate their Movies? C'mon.....geesh. As for the smoking, that is truly sad. I like you all was tickled to hear that MG fiiiinaally got a theatre and no one would have to drive to Cabool anymore to catch a month old flick. However, if you have to walk through Ciggerette smoke to see one, I would prefer to go back to Cabool. That is really sad. And, if I walked into ANY place and they wanted to seperate my children from me, that would be an automatic "red flag" and I would calmly ask for a return of my money and kindly walk out (I've done it before in Lebanon)

I went there last night and it was not the best experience I have had. I did not carry my purse in there but I thought it was kinda rediculous that they feel it necessary to look inside them and they let you in in groups and a big lecture on your cell phones which anybody with any manners would have since to shut off during the movie anyway. It was like going on to a military base. I do like the convenince of having the theater here but all the hassle may encourage me to go to Springfield where we are not all treated like crimminals.

wonder if he would want to sell it? I would most definatly be interested in purchasing it from him. I've found his number and I'll give him a call Friday.

This place sounds like it sucks, and i'm pretty sure they can't go through your purse.

actually they can go through your purse. If you come into my house, I have the right to ask to search your purse first. If you don't agree then that's your deal and I can't force you. Then I can ask you to leave until you comply (just an example I don't do that...lol) But yes they can search your purse, just like they do at a ballgame. It sucks, but they have every legal right to do so.

I'm with everyone else here. I watch movies in theaters in hopes of having a more luxurious experience than I can have at home.
Unfortunately, this is how it goes at ConnXtion Entertainment.

1)You'll stand in a line for fifteen minutes in a smoky billiards room until the ticket taker approaches.

2) If you or your date carry a purse, the ticket taker will ask to dig through it. Refuse and you will not be allowed to watch the film.

3)Ticket taker will then begin a five minute speech on how they will confiscate your cell phone if you're caught on it.

4)You'll spend fifteen minutes either in the hallway, or in a silent, empty theater.

5)If you make it through these tests, you get the privilege of watching an out of focus film in a cold theater (really, I wouldn't be surprised if it was under 60 degrees) through shot speakers. Enjoy!

Not sure but I heard they found vodka bottles in the theater after a show recently, therefore they could lose their license. I'm sure this was a very expensive project and I would hate to see them closed because some jerk brought in booze!! As for the rest of complaints, not sure, just clearing the one up about the searching. License regulations are VERY strict!!

I understand the reason why they think they can search your purse, but search and seizure is only legal if a law enforcement officer has probable cause to search and then you can refuse until they get a warrant from a judge. So what they are doing is rifling thru someones personal property with-out just cause. This is no different than if every time you went to Wal-Mart the door greeters
asked to search your purse. They are not legally allowed to do that. Its also discrimination because obviously they are targeting women who carry purses. Are they patting down the guys when they come in? If not, They are discriminating.
I don't want to see anything happen to the place because we need entertainment but they had better
re-think what they are doing or someone else may own the place before its over!!

ive only been to the theatre once since it opened and i agree w/ the smoking issues. i do not smoke and noticed that you had to walk through the smoke to get into the movies. my family and i love to bowl however we would not even go to the old bowling alley because u couldnt breath or see do to the smoke and they served alcohol. i was hoping that when the connection opened that it would be a nice smoke free/alcohol eviroment that would be a GREAT family place but w/ still smoking i can not take my family to enjoy a family night out. my daughter is allergic to cig. smoke so it would have been nice for her to be able to go. maybe one day they will change this policy.
