Anyone having problems with Direct TV? I,ve been getting "Searching for Satellite" since 7;30 last night.
Called their 'customer service'. They tried to blame it on bad "weather conditions" here in MC.
The rep said because it was cloudy!! OMG
Might not have service until next Friday, when a private co. comes out!

It's pretty doubtful that there would be any ice and/or snow left on any roofs here in Johnson County after the frickken monsoon we had...

Clouds wont turn off the tv LOL
Have any limbs or debris blown and hit your dish?
Have any trees blown in front of the dish?
How long has your dish been mounted? Is it secure?

Ok first unplug the reciever for one minute then plug it back.
TV signal?
Is it HD? If so do the same for the HD switch. There will be one plugged in on one of your recievers.

Test signal strength. On remote select in following order
Menu/P,Favs,setup/system setup/satellite/view signal strength/signal meters.
signal meters should be reading in 90,s if your dish is tuned well.

low reading would mean misalignment.
No reading is a problem in the dish itself. I.E. bad LNB, bad coaxial connection (assuming you have more than one reciever and none are working)
No reading could mean dish was completely out of alignment but this isnt probible onless it was struck or somebody turned it.

Direct TV and Dish both work the same way, by picking up a satellite singles. So to say one company is better over the other is ridiculous. The HBO’S and all the per-paid channels are basically the same too. The only differences between them are the charges and programming they offer for their different packages.

Sometimes snow can build up on the dish unit or a heavy Cloud cover such as a Thunderstorm may temporary knock it out. But only until the storm has past, Unless something has fell in front of your dish and has blocked your single.

I had trouble once with my Direct TV, It turned out what happen was when I hooked up a new DVD player. I jarred the Direct TV receiver unit. DTV tech had me pull out the SD card or Chip card in the receiver and put back in again and it worked fine after that. My experience with satellite TV is its more reliable than cable. Though both types of services to me cost way too much and both have just as many commercials.

We had that trouble. We keep the long metal pole handy, with wire brush on the end for cleaning out chimneys, and it reaches to the dish to get the snow out.
If that doesn't do it, then you go with your remote control to the "test signal" screen on directv. A wire connection could have blown loose.(It could be too that you lost your connection with the satellite up there in orbit, but I really doubt it.)

Thanks Went out to check out the dish and the metal pole it was installed on is loose, and unstable. So, that is the problem,I guess. I called Direct TV again yesterday to push for a earlier than Friday appointment, but no luck!

Ours went out, losing channels one at a time. The legs that the manuf. made were installed and secured with a few openings towards the sky. Rain got in, froze, and moved the dish away from the satellite. Tech came out, put new legs on the right way, and we had great reception. They gave us credit for a week without TV, and also gave a free month of Showtime
