Yeah, Fred;s has EVERYTHING. I mean they have all kinds of electronic equipment like Wal Mart does. They also have a hunting and fishing section like Wal Mart does. Not to mention the crafts section, the photography, auto parts, outdoor stuff, childrens toys, tool section, housewares, seasonal sections, etc etc. Freds has 10% of what Wal Mart does. So yeah......We need a Wal Mart.

by all means.... Mt. City DOES need a Wal-Mart & a Lowes!!!! Freds does have electronics, but they are REFURBISHED, the same with their appliances. There is nothing here in Mountain City, just a bunch of mom & pop stores, don't get me wrong.. Mom & pop stores are fine, but honestly??? how many people shop them, and who from mountain city gives their business to them on a daily basis? Mom and pop stores do not carry the line of merchandise people need or want on a daily basis. Mountain City also needs to get some young blood in as far as sitting on the county, and city seats. I think all would agree that everything and all the jobs which are far and few between are family owned, everybody and anybody that sits high up in the courthouse, school system, city council or county are related in some way or the other. It's sad that one has to travel an hour or more, just to get to a decent store. Johnson County is losing millions of tax dollars annually, by not having reputable businesses brought in. There are no jobs in Johnson County. you would think these head honchos that sit on the County Board, would want to make this county viable.

Johnson County needs jobs for the local residents so they can buy at Wal-mart. Afterwards, We need a Long John Silvers, a Sears or Lowes, and good auto repair and accessories. But then, the access to Mountain City is of curvy roads, hills and creeks on both sides, and we get a lot of snow. The more they buy at one trip, the larger the discount and It is difficult for a large truck to travel through the Laurel or around the lake.

What "large trucks" are you referring to?

If Mountain City had a Walmart, several local residents could work at that Walmart.

That would open up several jobs for sure. If the jobs went to the J.C. residents to help with our unemployment it would be wonderful. Maybe the people who work at the Boone and Elizabethton locations could relocate here then that would open up those jobs for THEIR residents.

WaLlmart would sell things we don't need coming into our community. It may bring undesirable people into our little town. They sell magazines with porn, all that ole trashy music and cd tapes and have you saw how those people dress. Homeless folks and all kinds hang out there. NO PEOPLE WE DO NOT WANT A WALLMART!!!!!!!!! LETS KEEP JOHNSON COUNTY CLEAN, CONVICT THOSE CRIMINALS LOCK THEM UP AND LET THEM CLEAN UP OUR STREETS..........

DAMN RIGHT! We should allow only locally grown porn, trashy music (what's a cd tape?), bad dressers, homeless folks, and all kinds. Our local trash shouldn't have to travel to find a place to hang out.

"Keep"? "Keep" Johnson County clean??? Which Johnson County are you living in? Certainly not the one in Tennessee!

You big dummy, they need for big trucks to bring in items to sell. You know; the ones that might haul long trailers which cannot make it around curves without crossing the path of the other driver.

How do you think the grocery stores, Freds, Dollar Stores, and pharmacies get the items that are stocked on the shelves?
How do you think fuel is available for you at gas stations?
In case you can't figure the answer out I'll tell you. Tractor Trailers (18 Wheelers).
So according to you "big trucks" that deliver freight to the other stores in Mountain City can arrive safely but "big trucks" delivering to a Walmart would be too dangerous.

Why do you think people that already have a job would move to Mountain City for a minimum wage job at Walmart?

No one in there right kind would move to Mountain City for a minimum wage job when they have a job.

Walmart doesn't sell porn magazines. Don't say that magazines with women wearing bathing suits are porn because then you'll have to get a picket sign and protest outside of your local pharmacies and grocery stores.

Depends on how you dress. I don't wear clothes from the Dollar Store or Freds other than house shoes.

Walmart prices are too high. You can find good sales at Belk, Sears, and Target and save money on food by shopping Food Lion. Customers at Walmart are in such a hurry and you risk being run over by a buggy pusher or someone waiting to get your parking space.
