What are they trained to do and not do? They were fun to watch at a pet shop once.

Not to bite, lol. They are good pets if you train them. If you dont give them attention they can be a pain to handle

mine don't sink. he is very well trained. Jack (the ferret) loves to walk on his leash at the park and around. He dose not stink. You have to give them bathes. They have lots of cool stuff out there to get for your ferrets that will keep them from stinking and to keep them happy. You do have to give them attention and lots of it.

Mammaw, we are dumbstruck. For over three hours we've been trying to think of something to say to THIS. You stopped Topix dead in its tracks.

I have a ferret, his birthday is tomorrow! I love him very much and he is a great pet to have. I have trained him not to bite and to use his litter box. Although all ferrets still eventually give off a sent even if they are descented, it is easily cared for with regular baths every couple of months AND clean the bedding they sleep in.

T'is sad there are so many rumors about ferrets :( I guess you don't know until you have one or know someone that actually has one :)

And ferrets will smell if you neglect them; they are like children with ADD and need to be played with a LOT! and litter boxes NEED to be cleaned regularly--or DUH they will stink because of an owners negligence.

Ferrets are nothing more than over grown rats and i cant wait until the ones i have to deal with kick the bucket or get eaten by some bigger animal. They smell they bite they shit all over the place and there simply bad pets. I want to make a stew out of the one my girl friend has and sell there pelts to the highist bidder or who ever will simply take em. I wanna flush em down the toliet for the over grown rat that they are i hate em and will laugh my ass off when some asshole who leash there dog eats them when there out side one of these days any one who thinks there good pets ddep down has something wrong deep down at the core of their personality and if they were smart and not retarded they would skin the ferret and eventually eradicate the species all together like we did smallpox and any one that does manage to survive the clenseing be disposed of in the brutal wayt possable

Ferrets are absolutely disgusting. My roommate has one and it perpetually sh*ts everywhere it can. Its odor is horrendous, even after they've been 'descented'. And never in my life have I met an animal with so many fucking specific lifestyle habits and strict rules that the owner must adhere to. So pointless. I hate it with such a ferocious passion. I abuse it every chance I get. I agree with the person who posted above. Eradicate the species, seriously. They are filthy overgrown rats who steal things. I mean, f*ck! I can't even leave a pair of socks or shoes on the floor of the apartment without running the risk of having the rat crawl into it and stink it up. So f*cking nasty. Good riddance.

Uh...get rid of the Boyfriend & the problem with the ferrets will magically disappear, too. lol!
Well, it was just a suggestion.:)

Your favorite pair of shoes? Girl, that's a "killin" offense, right there...the ferrets, not the Boyfriend! lol!
If it's any consolation, my Daughter's Cocker Spaniel chewed up my favorite pair, one time. He didn't even get a scolding, he was so darn cute.:)
Come to think of it, I've had some Boyfriends like that, too. The "too darn cute for a scolding" part, not the chewing up my shoes...I just wanted to make that clear. Precious Memories! LOL!

I watched a program on PBS about People who love ferrets. Believe me, these people are passionate about their ferrets.
Somebody that I worked with brought theirs to work one day. I petted it & I didn't NOT like it, but they're just not my kind of pet. But, for those of you who love them, more power to you.

If you don't like ferrets, don't buy/own a damn ferret. Problem = Solved.
