This is my last post on this subject.

Grace Walker and Just saying thinks that grace means that Christians do not have to obey the Ten Commandments, that because they are Christians they can worship false gods, have idols, take Gods name in vein, not keep the Sabbath holy, not honor their parents, kill, steal, lie, covet and have sex outside of marriage and don't even have to drop to their knees and confess their sins to God and ask for forgivness and tell God their sorry for sinning against him because they are saved, that they are forgiven before they kill someone because Jesus took our sins past, present and future.

Does this make sense to anyone else??

One more post.
I do believe that Christians can get forgiveness but they have to be sorry for disobeying God and ask for forgiveness and TRY not to continue in the sin that they are committing.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT CHRISTIANS CAN SIN WHEN EVER THEY WANT TO AND NEVER BE SORRY AND NEVER ASK GOD FOR FORGIVENESS, NEVER EVEN THINK ABOUT THE SINS THEY COMMIT BECAUSE JESUS TOOK CARE OF THAT FOR THEM.

IT'S NOT THAT CUT AND DRY FOLKS, I MEAN IF YOUR SPOUSE DOES SOMETHING TO YOU THAT SHOULD NOT BE DONE, SAY, ADULTERY, AND YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT THE AFFAIR, WOULDN'T YOU EXPECT THEM TO AT LEAST SAY "I AM SORRY AND IF YOU WILL FORGIVE ME AND TAKE ME BACK I WILL TRY TO BE A BETTER SPOUSE"?
COME ON KNOW! YOU WOULD WANT AN APOLOGY! SO WHY SHOULDN'T god??

If you have children, Do you lay down some IMPOSSIBLE rules for them that you KNOW they cannot uphold AND when they do, DO you kick them out of the family and /or beat them into obediance? If your toddler is trying to learn to walk and he falls over and over again, DO you kick him while he is down or do you reach down and pick him up, Let him know you love him and help him once again? God is our Father who loves us. Not some mean authorative father who stands over us with a club just waiting on our next mistake so he can hear you beg for mercy and beat you over the head. Its YOU who is serving a FALSE GOD and you dont even realize it. You dont believe a word of the bible unless it tells you a bunch a rules that you like in fear of your spouse committing adultry? If your husband loves you enough then NO amount of rules and threats will cause him to cheat. When I fall into some sort of sin, I THANK Jesus for His forgiveness and I do apologize for my mistake. I dont need to cry and beg for His forgiveness WHEN Jesus gave His LIFE so we could receive His forgiveness. It's beliefs like yours that turn people AWAY from A loving merciful God. Stop reading the Old Testament UNTIL you understand the NEW Testament. AND just to assure you that you have no clue what you talking about..Understanding Grace will cause a Christian to love God with their whole heart and WANT TO obey Him instead Of HAVING to obey out of FEAR. You are disagreeing with us AFTER we showed you scripture after scripture that tells us the truth but you are so blinded by Satan that you cant see it. I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU

I'm not quite sure what you've been reading, but neither I nor Grace Walker have said anything of the sort. As a matter of fact, I have stated that the commandments are a tool to identify what our wrongs are. Even Paul said, after Jesus ascended, that the commandments were still holy, but we are not justified through the law but by faith in Jesus. He has redeemed us from that curse. If we are to be like Jesus, we are to love one another as we love Him. Why would you want to commit murder, adultry, worship other gods? Grace is no way a free pass to sin, and neither I nor Grace Walker have ever stated that in any post. What is being said, and if you would just take a moment to read thoroughly and stop being blinded by the veil that is over your eyes, Grace offers unmerited favor to all who believe. It allows the Holy Spirit to move in your life without henderance from our own actions. It is no longer about us and our deeds and us trying to sanctify ourselves through those deeds to make it to heaven. There is nothing that we will say or do to get us in right standing with God, because we simply don't deserve His mercy nor His Grace. The commandments are focused on "Thou shalt"...God knows that we can never, ever live up to those standards, no matter how hard we try. Which is why He revised His whole plan with His son Jesus. He became the ULTIMATE sacrifice so that we could stop worrying about what we need to focus on within ourselves, stop trying to make ourselves self righteous and start putting our trust and faith in Him, where it should have been all along.

Grace Walker, I couldn't agree more. I don't think I'd want to serve a god who lies in wait to catch us in every act of disobedience, ready to beat us down and make us start all over again. I think that's why so many churches are running empty. They are pounding into their congregation that if you disobey, you are going to hell! Why would I want to serve a god like that. When I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I no longer am a servant, but a friend...what do you do with your friends? You talk more, you want to spend time with them, and you do things for them because you want to, not because you feel indebted to them for being your friend. If we are constantly begging for forgiveness, which some want to believe we sin all day, every day, and therefore would be every second of the day, those prayers are mumblings to God. Sort of like the Charlie Brown teacher...it just becomes annoying noise to God..I would think too, that it gets on His nerves when that's all He hears, instead of thanks and praise and glory to Him for sending His precious Son. It would seem too, if we constantly beg and cry out to Him for forgiveness, it would make what Jesus did for us null and void.

With Jesus' birth, life, death, and resurrection the Old Covenant was fulfilled and a new covenant was instituted.

“But our High Priest [Jesus Christ] has been given a ministry that is far superior to the ministry of those who serve under the old laws, for he is the one who guarantees for us a better covenant with God, based on better promises. If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it. But God himself found fault with the old one when he said:“The day will come, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah…”(Heb. 8:6-8 NLT)

So then, what happened to the law (Ten Commandments)? Where did they go? Were they suddenly made obsolete? Were they not important any more?

They were part of the old covenant which was transformed into the new covenant in Jesus Christ. The Ten Commandments are laws of great moral value and significance. They provide guidance for right living toward God and toward one another. They provide and excellent foundation for moral civilization. And Jesus Himself never destroyed the law. In fact, the Apostle Paul said that the “law is good...”(I Tim. 1:8).

So what is the Ten Commandments place in an era of grace through the new covenant?

The Scriptures are very clear where the law went:

“The day will come,” says the Lord,“when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife,” says the Lord.

“But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,” says the Lord.“I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their family, saying,‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will already know me,” says the Lord.“And I will forgive their wickedness and will never again remember their sins.”(Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:8-13)

The law that was once external, written on two stone tablets and placed in the ark of the covenant for the people of God (Israel) is now transferred into the hearts of all who know Jesus Christ and have become partakers in the new covenant.

If we are in right standing with God, sin no longer becomes our way of thinking or point of view...meaning we aren't focused on sinning if our eyes are on Him, we allow Him, through freewill, to work in our lives and keep ourselves and our works out of the picture.

Let's use this same example...adultry...there is no number of laws that will keep a spouse from cheating if he is headstrong in doing it. There can be a thousand rules and laws telling them that it is wrong but if they have their mind made up about doing it, they are going to do it. You may be hurt by their decision, but your love for your spouse hasn't changed...if you truly love them. Although you are hurt over their choices, you still forgive them. You don't go into a marriage with the idea of divorce on your mind...same with God. He didn't create us with the intent of building us up and ooops, the first mistake we are gone, that's it..no more us! You and I would never have made it to the world if that were the case. Out of courtesy to you, I'm sure your spouse would apologize for what they did and out of love for them, you offer your forgiveness freely, but do you want to hear "I'm sorry" for the rest of your lives? It would get annoying because it would bring up the past for you both to relive over and over and neither of you would have the opportunity to move forward if that's all you were to think about. Once we become believers, our sins are cast as far from us and God's memory as the east is from the west. Again, it isn't through our good deeds that allowed God to forgive us. It is through our faith in Him, His mercy and Grace that has sanctified us from all of that.

GREAT ILLUSTRATION..As sad as it may be. most people just dont know the truth because they listen to a preacher who carries on traditions and religion. I had a preacher like that before and I thought he was preaching the truth. After all, He is a preacher..WRONG way of thinking on my behalf. This particular preacher was as legalistic as they get. Always pointing out our faults and telling us how to live..And the truth is..I liked that kind of preaching at first.Legalism may work for a short time but as i came to learn...It is short lived. It became a burden to go to church and do charitable work because I was being judged on my performance. So many people came and went under his style of preaching { which I am sure that he meant well,) He just hasn't been blessed with the truth yet. This preacher finally left the church and at first we were heartbroken but it was a Blessing. I was determined to seek the truth and I WAS..The message of Grace has changed my life..It brought me into a relationship with Jesus Christ and it took the focus off my efforts and performance...I have been set free..Thank You Jesus

Indeed, legalism is something usually invented by man. Grace was invented by God.

When we look to Father Abraham, we do indeed see where he did follow certain rituals. But the emphasis was always that his religion came from the heart, not on legalism.

The best way to understand Christianity is probably by studying the life and faith of Abraham, and understanding the teachings of Jesus the Messiah, who explained it all to us.

But you must understand that religion is also man made and based on traditions....this is why we have so many sects of religion. While studying the bible in it's entirety is wise, Christianity is based on Jesus' ministry. If we are to have life and live it more abundantly, we place our focus on Christ and His works and what His intentions are for us.

No, that is most certainly NOT what I said. I said being a gentile, we were never placed under the law...the law was given to the Jews...we are not Jewish..those laws never applied to us...however we are adopted into the inheritance of the Jews. At the time when the commandments were given, Christ (Jesus) had not even been born, therefore Christianity had not come into play. Again, NOT BEING JEWISH, those LAWS NEVER APPLIED TO THE GENTILES and unless you are a Jew, they were not given to us. Please, if you are going to comment on what I post, at least read it in it's entirety and not attempt to twist what I say. I understand that you are under the conviction of the Old Covenant, I was too. However, under Grace, I am free from that conviction...Galations 3:11-13 states that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, the just shall live by faith. The law is not of faith and any man who lives under the law will be judged from and under the law. Jesus, through His crucifixion, redeemed us from the curse of the law. It is not by any works we do that we shall receive our salvation..works being the law, those "Thou Shalts". And before you begin to say that I said we should just put aside the commandments, let me clarify to you once again, Paul stated that the commandments are holy, because they were delivered by God Himself, but we are no longer convicted under them through Grace by which God sent His Son to fulfill the law. If we are constantly focused on our sin, which is what the Old Covenant, ten commandments, the law, does then we take our focus off of Christ and place it on ourselves and all that we can do to make ourselves holy and just. Through Grace, we know that we know we are redeemed through the greatest sacrifice and no longer place our focus on our sin...again, we don't think about committing adultry, murder, etc when we are focused on Christ and allow His spirit to work through us.
