Nobody knows what to do about it or it would have already been done.

All I know is I want to homeschool my children now. I can't imagine getting a call about my children being shot. It can happen anywhere. That town was small....our town is small....what if it happened here?

A parent asked God, "where were you?" God answered and said, "I'm not allowed in school anymore".
My child is grown but my heart aches for these parents I do not know.
I think one solution would be to build a fort around the schools and to have any visitor to stop at a building where they have a metal detector and maybe have an officer to escort them to the main school.

Ummm, who exactly has enough power to tell GOD where he is and isn't allowed? And why would He take orders from whoever this is?

Every Article that I've read today, has said that they doubt if Congress does ANYTHING about Gun Control. So, let's wait and see if they're right before we get all beside ourselves.
Anything meaningful, concerning Gun Control, would surely bring on a Supreme Court Challenge by the NRA, and maybe more, so I tend to think the Articles are probably right.
My question is...will Congress do ANYTHING and if so, WHAT? Actually, I am doubting even that, since reading the Articles. But, time will tell.

While I do agree with part of your Post, I think that gun control is NOT the answer! anybody who makes the decision to go on a "killing rampage" is going to find a way to do it. Had the shooter not been able to find a gun, he would have looked on the Internet and found instructions to make a bomb, used a knife, or his bare hands on little 5 to 10 year olds.
When Kids are giving everything they want and are aloowed to do anything they want to, they do not develop "coping skills" that Adult Life will require because the world is NOT going to give you everything you want and there are rules in society that you have to live by, whether you want to or not. Thus, the necessity for "coping skills" in Adulthood.
I would like to see more attention paid to Kids "in trouble", more education for Parents to know what to look for, and better access to Resources for them to go to if they think their child MIGHT have a problem, as well as easier access to things that help the Child, if he/she does, rather than more "Gun Control". Actually, with things the way they have already become, we responsible Adults NEED our guns to protect ourselves from the types of Kids Young and Older People who are apt to harm us, if they get the chance, for their own irrational reasons, such as I described above, among others.
But for you Parents, take control of your Child...don't let them control you! Deny them the things and activities that they do not need to do for their own Well-being...to teach them how to deal with disappointment and to develop their "Self-Discipline". they will need these skills throughout their Adult Life and it's your responsibility to teach it to them. If you don't, some will learn it on their own when they have to, but some will not. If your Child is one of the Ones who does not, he/she may wind up like the 20 year old Shooter. Ask yourself which way is worse for them AND for you, and is that a risk you want to take?

You and Mike Huckabee need to be slapped.
If God's name was mentioned fervently 100 times per day in every classroom, there would still be mental illness, personality disorders, and bad things happening to good people. God IS notorious for allowing all that to happen, and things will not change no matter how mankind jumps through hoops.

They're DEAD; things don't get any more peaceful than that.

It's their survivors who are in torment.

And the mostly Democrat gun ban zealots.

Did any of you watch the President's speech tonight? If you didn't, try to catch it on video and have your tissues close by because you'll need them when he starts telling things that the Little Kids did and said & afterward, when they show a few pictures of some of the Little Victims.
Too sad for words, and beautiful Little Children.

Those "schizophrenics" need to be locked away from society! Our "medical pros" seem to blame "mental illness" for all the murdering of innocent children, and adults, occurring now? The "mentally sick", that are threatening and harming, need to be locked away for the rest of their lives! In my opinion, this would STOP much of the useless killings!

It's just almost impossible for me to "wrap my mind " around it. I just wish with all my Being that it had never happened.

Yes, me too. But we have "evil" all around our children, in one way or another.........Counting those many "parents" that bring harm to children, and get away with murdering those precious little angels. For one HUGE example, Casey Anthony, one of many! It's my opinion that our President will try his very best to get the "evil nut cases" locked away. Many of these crazies aren't crazy at all, just evil!

How about your beloved soldiers who "put their lives on the line" to "serve their country" and came home with PTSD and/or other mental illness. Wanna lock them up for the rest of their lives too?

You kiss goodbye about a thousand kids age 0-9 killed in motor vehicle wrecks EVERY YEAR. But this mewling pours forth only on those once every few years occasions on which a bunch die in a single incident. And the driver(s) who caused the deaths? "Oh, he's a good, churchgoing man/boy/woman, a good father/mother/son, we all make mistakes, it was an accident, yada yada yada."

These mass murders are tragic and sad and traumatic and all that. But they are rare and their victims are minuscule compared to the run of the mill slaughter that goes on daily and weekly, caused by all those "good" people who aren't "mentally sick".

IKHW, I know that you don't talk to me, but I genuinely would like your opinion on this incident. Not a rebuttal to somebody else's post, but a post of your honest thoughts and opinions about what happened and why, what emotions of yours did it bring about?

You probably won't answer, but I really would like to know.

I'm trying to figure out how to respond to this post.

Here goes, the mentally ill that murder will be locked away the same as the non mentally ill that murder will be.

Until the mentally ill do harm how does anyone know who is mentally ill and who rounds them up and locks them away?

After they are rounded up where are they sent? Mentally ill people shouldn't be sent to prison because they are mentally ill, noone can be sent to prison for a crime that they might commit.

As far as locking away the mentally ill.
The mentally ill shouldn't be punished for being mentally ill.
I DO believe mental illness is a real and serious disease just like cancer or any other disease.
The mentally ill don't want to suffer from the disease they have.

Like IKHW said, soldiers have PTSD.
They have seen dead bodies blown apart by bombs, when those soldiers come home some of them can't get those thoughts out of their head.

A man or woman that was raped by a father, uncle, brother, teacher, neighbor or whoever from childhood for years, that will cause PTST.

Someone that was physically and mentally abused as a child by their parents or whoever they lived with, maybe they were passed from foster home to foster home.
They never knew love, all they knew was fear and pain. This will cause PTSD and paranoia. When someone has been severly abused it can cause them to think everyone will hurt them which brings on paranoia and paranoia can bring on other problems such as obsessive compulsive disorder.

You think people like this should be locked away for life?
I think they need help.
