Convince me you know what you are asking about and not simply stringing words together and maybe I'll humor you with an answer.
Well, according to the Road Stupidintendent, there is no need for an LA "testing machine" as you call it for someone in Johnson County. However, DOT conducts LA testing.
1. Gradation analysis, Atterberg limits, Specific gravity and absorption ,Sodium sulfate (soundness). Alkali-aggregate reactivity, Petrographic analysis , tests for clay, tests for organics, oh and lets not forget your infamous LA abrasion test.

Now I know that some of the tests above are related to ASTM C127, C88, C131 and C142 as well. I am sure an organization as thorough as yours has all of the lab tests done in case any stupid hick like me asks.

So how's the permit coming?:)

Looks like someone finally figured out how to use the internet... imagine that, from a county that may still have banned books in their elementary schools. Have you entered the 21st century?

I know you are an avid fan of the commentator but you need not follow him around from thread to thread. Stay in your place. Besides, the commentator is not digging for anything, but trying to shed some light on the ineptitude of the Road Department.
You are still not addressing the commentator by the correct name.
Sure. Whatever.

Nice to see you can use Google. No, such tests are not performed in anticipation of someone like yourself asking. Rather, they are performed for quality control.

You should share your newly found knowledge with the Road Stupidintendent. All of Johnson County would benefit.

For the rest of us mere mortals.....

ACTIVE STANDARD: ASTM C33
Standard Specification for Concrete Aggregates

ASTM C33 are the specifications that defines the requirements for grading and quality of fine and coarse aggregate for use in concrete.

This "standard" is used by a contractor, concrete supplier, or other purchaser as part of the purchase document describing the material to be furnished.

These specs are also used in projects to define the quality of aggregate, the nominal maximum size of the aggregate, and other specific grading requirements.

Hey Rock Hound,
How long can a lapsed permit applicant continue to operate without violating state or federal rules or regulations? Seems like a reasonable time frame would be set, long enough for even the slow and feeble minded.

As far as the permit goes....indefinitely as far as I know (correct me if I am wrong, rc). TN is way behind in environmental protection, control, and enforcement. That is one of the reasons why we attract undesireables from neighboring states. Rational Commentator is a fine example of what to expect should this outsider group get a real foothold in our county. Let's not forget that they want to put an asphalt plant next to a tier 2 stream, in a floodplain, feeding directly into Watauga lake. Now how responsible is that? These are facts that the arrogant rc can not dispute.

Most people know the difference between right and wrong, responsible and irresposible. We all know not to rely in TDEC to enforce any rules/regulations. Legislation has most of thier hands tied. We need to correct this before it starts. I am just very thankful that there are good lawyers and some deep pockets involved. We don't need another bully in our county.

Most of these statements are opinionated. The commentator has addressed such statements, but you are in the wrong thread. Stay on topic. Besides, if the WWA is reduced to selling wreaths to raise attorney fees, where are all the deep pockets? Wishful, but incorrect thinking....

The proposed asphalt plant is:

Within designated floodplain - fact
Next to a Tier 2 stream - fact
Feeds Watauga Lake - fact

RC is arrogant - my opnion based on posts.

So how is that new permit coming?:)

Make no mistake. The absolute best you can do is cause delay. Your window of opportunity passed before you, and you did not even recognize it.

What do you know about the County's quarry? I hear it suffers from inordinate amounts of erosion. Have you inquired of the Road Stupidintendent the LA test results? If you do not know, you should consider changing your name. Let me suggest "Garbage Hound" particularly if reside in anything resembling that little hut up MT Road with numerical address, say <1000.

Try again on the identity. Wrong...but close. Is this a threat toward a vocal opponent of yours? I understand that is SOP for your organization. People around here are not a stupid or as timid as you think. You can only push people so far before the redneck justice comes in play.

So no disputing my facts on post #29, huh?

DJ, everybody knows where I live, and everyone knows where you live. The immaturity of your posts suggests an instability of someone who poses a risk to yourself and others. The more I dig into your unsavory past the less you resemble a circus monkey and more you resemble a twisted sad human being. Do your mother a favor and get some help.

Garbage Hound, you misunderstood the commentator. He was not guessing your identity but drawing a comparison.

The commentator hardly thinks you speak for all the "people around here."

Are you making volatile threats now?

It is remarkable how the commentator can incite your angry temper and cause you to become unfocused and lose sight of your determination.

People who speak about themselves in the third person are, well, usually unstable. No offense.

Are you speaking of sociopaths? Ted Bundy would often reference himself in the third person. Good observation uh oh.

A few characteristice of a sociopath:
Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them, Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them, Authoritarian, Secretive, Paranoid,
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired,
Conventional appearance,
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s), Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the ictim's life, Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love),
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing ictim,
Incapable of real human attachment to another,
Unable to feel remorse or guilt, Extreme narcissism and grandiose,
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world (or Johnson County)...don't have a cow RC. Just joking with you.

It's just an observation here but I do see a few characteristics above reflected in one of our posters. No offense.

1 more vote Tony won't get.

www.thetomahawk.com

Regardless of my age, my vote still counts

Dear Editor:

I worked for Johnson County Highway Department for 18 years but was laid off from my job. I asked my boss if I would be called back to work or should I be looking for another job. He told me not to worry, that there was plenty of work. In March of last year I received a letter saying that I would not be hired back due to a lack of funds. I donít think funds had anything to do with it. I believe my age was the reason behind that decision. It just doesnít seem fair after being a dependable worker for so many years. Maybe they think Iím too old for the job but I can still vote in this summerís election. And you can be sure I will. I urge all older Johnson Countians to remember this when you vote.

How much did you pay the commissioners to let you put that next to a stream that feeds the lake.
