I hear Jim Shull stayed as chief; so I guess that makes him the best fire chief or else he would be gone.

Jason Blevins isn't chief at First District anymore. Jason had to step down because he took the EMA directors position. Kevin Colson is the New Chief.

Shady Valley has the most qualified Fire Chief of all the departments! Charles has been there since it started and has more training than the other chiefs!

Having the newest truck in Johnson County doesn't mean jack if you don't have the members and the training to operate it. Doe Valley has the most undertrained members in the county. I thank God I don't live in Doe Valley and have to rely on this bunch of jokers to save my house if it were on fire. Dave has TOO many junior members. You can't distinguish between juniors and regular, qualified firefighters (which are few and far between on this department). If it weren't for the junior members he has, there would be no Doe Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Doe get real, Daniel Dugger's the only firefighter you have and he's getting ready to leave and go somewhere else! Your a joke so go take some training classes and maybe you will learn how to use your new truck!

ok, no one and i mean no one should say jack about firefighters and/or junior firefighters... the towns most heroic individuals are firefighters. and there is not a thing wrong with junior firefighters. junior firefighters go to each and every call possible and help out just as the more experienced firefighters...

and to the one dissing the departments having junior firefighters, i sure hope your house or anything doesn't catch on fire if you don't think the junior firefighters are capable of putting the fire out b/c you'll be screwed.

I never dissed the junior members. Hey, everybody's gotta start somewhere. I'm just saying that it's unsafe and unprofessional to show up with a few firefighters and a busload of 14-year-olds. If you're going to have junior members on scene, do like the other departments. Issue them a different color of gear, get their ID badges made that distinguish them as junior members. Do something.

Well I'll just go ahead and tell you this. I am a member of another department in the county and I recall an incident not too long ago when Doe Valley did mutal aid (along with nearly every other department in the county) for our department on a structure fire. I came outside from doing interior attack to swap out my air bottle on my SCBA and I was going back in when someone asked me if they could go too. Luckily I asked who they were and what department they were from before we got in the house .... it was one of your juniors. I know the only way they're going to learn is by bringing them along, but they should be kept at a centralized location such as with the IC or near a truck. Maybe you should do some research into the deaths of members, not always juniors, due to carelessness. I'd hate to see our future go up in smoke - no pun intended.
