Has anyone heard about this? I heard on the scanner that a 17 year old boy got shot in the chest down on 91.

Yea, I heard it on the scanner also. They said the gun (a 22) backfired and hit him in his lower rib on his right side. Glad to hear that he is gonna be ok.

I am glad he is OK. However I don't understand how a gun can "backfire" unless the chamber explodes or the bolt blows out. These events are very unlikely with a .22. And from the description above he must have been firing from the hip? My guess is he was horsing around like we all did when we were kids. Hope he is more careful in the future.

Is that true? Boy, some people require more painful lessons than other people, don't they?

By the way, how do you put a gun "on" your pocket? Even if he was putting it IN his pocket, which pocket would it have to be in order for the shot to hit him in the lower rib?

17 year olds are not eligible for concealed carry. Its illegal for a person without concealed carry to have a gun concealed in the pockets. he was breaking the law. I know his family and am very happy he is OK. This is why a safety course is required to get a concealed carry permit!

Okay, I'll ask you, too. Where do you go to get a concealed carry permit? Tennessee doesn't issue them.

Tennessee issues just Handgun Carry Permits. Having one of those authorizes you to carry a handgun. You may carry it concealed. You may carry it openly. TN law does not require you to conceal it.

Here's my source. Where's yours?

Why does everyone have to be a damn smart-ass? I mean can't people make a TYPO without being ridiculed on it? Also people make mistakes it is only human nature. I don't care who you are, you have made a choice once in your life that has became one of your biggest life lessons! Some call it a mistake others call it a choice!!

Duhhhhh's post about making a mistake, is an old joke that I heard many years ago. I suspect it was an attenpt to lighten things up a little. I guess with you, damn, it didn't work. But, I thought it was a good effort, anyway.:)
