Whats wrong with you people? Go up to the top of these mountains and open your eyes. Just look at what God gave us all. Everything is here if only you look.

The beauty that God created doesn't put a roof over your head and food on your table.

That's why there are so many "low income" families on government assistance in that area, beauty is all there is .

There's no jobs there.

By "jobs" I mean jobs on a higher pay scale.

Working at a grocery store with part time hours doesn't provide much.
I'm not putting anyone down that works at a grocery store but those jobs are good for high school kids for an a few hours in the evening or summer job or if someone is married and the other spouse makes more money, but a single adult trying to pay rent, utilities, car payment, insurance, food and all the other living expenses that we all have can't make it on minimum wage part time hours and that's all that Mtn.City offers.

IN THIS AREA? Are you not from here? I know times are tough but I also know that the necc has openings along with nn ball and roller. We have some of the best people here that Can create new jobs. Get these people together to create (not bring} good jobs here.
There was a time, If you wanted a machine that really worked you called America. If you had a job you called an American company. Those times aren't gone. The people with that drive and fire in their gut is gone. It's time to start fighting back.

That's what happens when People get so "beaten down" by circumstances beyond their control...they lose that "drive and fire in their gut". That is what's happened to American Society, in general. When that happens, People don't notice or appreciate the beauty of their surrounds because all they can think about is, how are they going to survive. They're just too preoccupied with those kind of thoughts to notice, or think about, anything else.
Factor in the Drug Addicts, whose only thought is where and how are they going to get their next "fix", and you have Today's American Society in its totality, for the most part.
Thats right

That's what happens when People get so "beaten down" by circumstances beyond their control...they lose that "drive and fire in their gut" and they become enslaved on the Obama plantation...getting their obama phone, their obama food stamps, their obama-claus freebies. They lose their drive to be self reliant and self sufficient and in their dope-induced zombie paranoid lives neglect to take in the beauty of their surroundings. That's what you meant right?

Dreaming doesn't provide a job for the unemployed in Johnson County.

The prison and N&N can't hire all of the unemployed.

How many job openings are there at both places? 4 or 5, 8 or 10?

If both hire 10 people that's 20 unemployed in the county that now has a job.

That doesn't put a dent in the unemployment rate.

To work at the prison you have to go to their version of "boot camp" for training, you don't just fill out an application and go to work in a few days.

A lot of people are not able to make it through that training, there is a lot of running and PT that older people can't do.

As this issue of "no" jobs comes up periodically, I periodically pose this question.

Is it or is it not the case that NEARLY ALL the employable people in this county ARE employed and that almost all the unemployed are the ones with no job skills needed by employers, the ones whose speaking/reading/writing make them undesirable to employers, the ones whose record of attendance and promptness makes them undesirable to employers, whose drug habits make them undesirable to employers, whose social skills and personal hygiene make them undesirable to employers, whose unwillingness to give a full day's work for a full day's pay makes them undesirable to employers, whose lack of initiative (as in "not my job" attitude) and creativity makes them undesirable to employers,...?

A far as a job goes, It took a month, but I found one...which led to another one with more hours which led to a better one that I have had for 5 years now.
What is good for me? I came from a city that was and still is full of crime, drugs, etc. Mountain City has that stuff too but NO WHERE NEAR as bad. Schools are decent, views are beautiful, plenty of things to do if you get off your arse, and most neighbors are great. Where I am anyway. All these people who say it is so bad have an option. Leave.
