What are your thoughts on gun control? We have the right to legally own firearms. We need to have respect for guns and the power they possess. Education has to at the center of this topic. A better understanding on all parties envolved is needed. Which is every american citizen. We have to look at the past to see what has worked and what hasn't. Prohibition didn't work out as planned. People went blind or even died from the things they tried to drink. Other countries have banned guns, with other drawbacks. Such as a rise in violent crimes and break-ins. I think it is a good idea for better background checks and enacting them at gunshows. It would make it harder for people who legally can't own a gun less capable to get one, not impossible. I don't know what bills are being brought before congress. I only hope this doesn't open the door for more aggressive laws against guns and gun ownership later

Isn't it the Netherlands that banned guns and has the lowest crime rate of all the Civilized Countries? I mention that because if we want to really do something about Gun Violence, I think we have to look at more than just Banning Guns. I'm sure if I'm right about the Netherlands, there were other factors besides just banning Guns....and we need to look at what they are...the whole, big Picture, IOW!

The reason the Netherlands has the lowest crime rate is that the criminals cannot run fast in those wooden shoes.

The Netherlands does have one of the lowest crime rates, but it did not actually ban guns. I'm not sure of the sanctions they set. I do know that in order to get access to certain types of firearms they have to get two or three different licences. Their government also censors violent video games and movies, and all man are required to serve in the military. I would also think that laws in general would be more strict, but I can't say that with certainty. There has always been violence. The word has been around much longer then gun violence.

Norway has a very low crime rate - and very strict gun laws. So this guy bombs parliament and shoots 72 students last year and gets 22 years in a "condo" jail cell and is eligible for parole in 7 years. Yeah, lets be like them. In Norway and Denmark the age of consent is 8 (yeah really). So their child molestation crime rate is low. There are no children to molest, they are considered adults. Denmark is the kiddie porn capitol of the world but it doesn't show up in their crime rate because its not illegal.

if they take one they will take all. people will kill if even if they have to do it with screwdrivers and pocket knifes. A gun ban want do nothing. all you here on the news is AR-15,but a ruger 10-22 will shoot just as fast.so if they ban assault weapons it want be long till they get everything.

yes, I believe in stronger laws for gun control. I also believe in the second amendment.
if you want to own a gun in this country.
1. pass a psychiatric screening.
2. pass a criminal background check.
3. pass a week long course/training from your local sheriff, police or state program.
4. every gun you wish to own, WILL be registered at the local police station. Who will then forward it to the FBI who will maintain a database on type, caliber and firing patterns from said gun(s).
5. if you want a concealed weapons license, that would be a month long course.
you don't pass any of those and you don't get to own a gun or carry one.

Also, the only people that should have access to assault rifles or any weapons that can fire multiple rounds with one trigger pull is the military, swat teams or police/sheriff deputies.
shotguns, handguns and rifles are all allowed to owned by civilians.

This idiot knows no more about this matter as he does the meaning of "F U".

Denmark is age 15.
Norway is age 16.
There are 28 states in the United States of America that have age 16 as "age of consent".

You want proof, here it is, read for yourself>>>>

I own several guns and am not particularly opposed to what you are saying. I do think a month long course is a bit excessive.I also think there is a lot of hysteria on both sides of this issue and we all need to look at facts and not be pushed over the edge by the talking heads. As usual, extremists on both sides, but I believe the majority of people do not think gun show loopholes and 30 round magazines should be allowed. If you can't hit a deer with six shots, go back to bed.

oh yeah.... there is to much hysterics with all this. I understand to a certain degree.
I admit, I to think a month long course for concealed weapons permit is a bit excessive. perhaps a second week of training would do for that.
gun shows would be ok with me if they agreed and abide by any laws.... like the ones I suggest. 30 round clips shouldn't really be necessary to the public. IMHO.
