I am in need of someone to build my new house. They must be willing and knowledgeable to build to established building codes. They must be willing to work with my construction manager/inspector who will oversee construction to verify code compliance and quality of workmanship.

I have the plans for the house and I want to begin construction in spring 2008. The building site evaluation is complete and approved by a soil engineer. Electrical service and water is on site.

I need names of qualified builders and would like to know of previous houses they have built. My construction manager will interview perspective builders and perform background checks.

If your construction manager does his job and does it well, you may be okay. But if you select a builder based on advice you receive on Topix.net -- ESPECIALLY on this Mountain City forum -- then you deserve whatever you get.

Rummage around the various topics of this forum for an hour or two and see for yourself if you really want to accept advice, recommendations, suggestions, or any factual/logical communication from these participants.

I would not reccomend, Darrell Potter. I have an e-mail from home owner how he ruined their house!!
Also was told he has 3 law suits against him.
I also would not reccomend Brian Reese also known as "Carpenters At Large" Nor would I reccomend "Joe Dunn" carpenter, sub-contractor,
nor Doug McGlammery- plumber, nor Bobby Coffey- stainer. Unfortunately,we learned the hard way by having these wanna-bes' work on our home.
I do reccomend Dustin Ankrom and Chris Stanberry
of NorthWest Tn.Construction out of Boone N.C.
They do superb work, and are on the job-site every day. Their work ethics are as great as their workmanship.

Timber Wolfe Constuction is my recommendation. Locate their office on 421 south of Mountain City across from Red Tail Golf Course. They are lic and bonded contractors. That is rare to find in Johnson County, TN.

That's okay 'cause he's not a home builder.

Tim Peresada is the best in the county, if you can get him. I hear he stays booked. Just look at the mansion he built for himself.

I used Bill Allen for construction and Steve Marshall for cabinets, all were outstanding.

No steady work history, no references.
I would NOT recommend these.

Yes, I've seen some of the work from them and I've seen the crew. So, far your the only person I've ever heard recommend them.

I really just want names of builders. My construction manager will make the decision of who he will hire. He is my son; he does this for a living and has my concern in mind. He will fully investigate the prospective builder and interview past customers.

By qualified builders I meant, licensed, bonded contractor, with disability and workers' compensation insurance. If they donít have this we donít talk with them.

The contractor must enter into a legal agreement with me detailing construction requirements as well as meeting completion goals. This is standard procedure.

I hope there are qualified candidates in Johnson County. I know I can find a qualified contractor in North Carolina. I would like to hire locally if possible.

Dillion Road, Thanks for the link to Barlow, they look like a possible contender.
