When cities operate under a code of preferential transactions, special deals and duplicity in the name of the greater good, and subsequently suppress the voices of objecting citizens, the citizens become the biggest losers. Well documented cases of 1st Amendment Rights violations, police harassment, over-reaching, abuse of executive powers and other Civil Rights violations are becoming, sadly, more common place in a city apparently spinning out of control.

At a recent City Council meeting, a well intentioned citizen, David Grajeda, was ejected from the meeting at the instruction of the Vice Mayor, by the LA County Sheriff’s Officers, for simply attempting, in his own somewhat naïve and inarticulate way, to make a statement of opinion concerning his perception of a gross conflict of interest between the Mayor’s Office, Lancaster Redevelopment Agency vacancy and appointment of Deputy Mayor Kitty Szeto who is an R. Rex Parris employee, as replacing former Agency Director Parris. At the same council meeting from which David was summarily and dictatorially ejected for failing to follow the exact rules of order, former Mayor Hearns blatantly stepped out of order to present his opinion on a separate matter without following the Council Chamber rules in any form or manner whatsoever. Under an obvious rule of City Council favoritism David Grajeda was selectively discriminated against and punished while the former Mayor was not chastised or sanctioned or ejected, rather he was openly accommodated without prejudice. Not so surprisingly or coincidently with his recent increased challenges and questions to the City, it appears that David has also become the target of consistent police investigations, harassment, intimidation and arrests. His encounters with the various legislative and judicial branches of the city are well documented in a variety of video camera recordings for anyone who is interested to openly view and consider on YouTube and at the City’s archived video footage of it’s official public meetings.

Adding insult to injury, at the formal, private invitation only opening of the Leammle theater on Lancaster BLVD David Grajeda was a member of the public in attendance, minding his own business, and standing well within a group of other ordinary people gathered to watch the dignitaries perform the ribbon cutting. Prior to speaking, Mayor R. Rex Parris, singled David out and instructed to “Have that piece of crap, garbage removed” before he spoke. Crap and garbage were the Mayor’s pedantic, immature and undignified references to Mr. Grajeda, who responded, as he was forcibly dragged from the event, that it was unfair for a “crook” to call a citizen “garbage”– the net result was an abuse of the Mayor’s and the City’s power, leading to Mr. Grajeda’s arrest for allegedly disturbing the peace. Apparently, 1st Amendment free speech in Lancaster, by a private citizen on a public sidewalk, is a gross disturbance of the peace and punishable by incarceration.

David Grajeda is not the only person in the way of Mayor Parris, Ron Smith, and the Council. Duly sitting members of AVAAA, the non-profit Cedar Centre For The Arts (501 © Corp) Board also found themselves replaced, harassed, sued and threatened when they refused to step aside for a new board appointed by the Mayor. The lawsuit between the legally elected, AVAAA Board and the city is ongoing and a matter of public record. However, the stories behind trumped up arrests of former tenants of the Cedar Centre, intimidation and shakedowns involving police actions re not so public, at least at this time.

Lancaster is out of control. When the city wants to enforce or impose it's will, God help any citizen who gets in the way. With almost 100% certainly, the Sheriff's will step in gestspo style to assure that the city gets its way.

Well said! But your incorrect on rex's feelings towards the 1st amendment. He's all for it. Especially when it comes to HIM! As in bad mouthing citizen's he doesn't like. For others, not so much.

To call a citizen garbage and crap, and then whine when the citizen responds accordingly is like the school yard bully, after hitting a kid in the yard, running to a teacher crying that someone wants to hit him!

I think the Sheriffs Department in Lancaster is doing outstanding job trying to make this a safe city to live in. The crime rate is dropping, and I'm not as worried as I once was to be a victim of crime. There is still a long way to go. The gang guys in Lancaster do an outstanding job. Gangs have no place in our city..run them out

I don't think there is a law that says you have to live in Lancaster. It is possible to move back to where you came from?

Lets be realistic people, everyone knows how the Sheriff's department rolls with the secret gang groups. If your not guilty, they will pin a case on you somehow someway and make you guilty until you go to trial, you will lose your home, your family, and your job. If they want to beat you up, they will find an excuse to kick the crap out of your cabeza in jail or out in your house. The County Supervisors will make the biggest error in public policy, to allow the Sheriffs to supervise, control, and conduct compliance checks on these new parolees coming from the state. Knowing that the Sheriff's Green Goon Squad is coming, they are going to go on the run scared of getting a bloody shampoo on their cabeza! How could you even consider the Sheriff department to take control of anything to do with supervision of probationers or parolees. plain dumb and stupid!

Not being to mean, but I have lived in the valley since 1963 and I know for a fact that when they started to beinng up people from Los Angles tha Valley as a whle started to get worse. I have lived in Quartz Hill, Lancaster, Palmdale, and rosamond. In my opinion if L.A. county didn't send up most of the problem childern up this way just to get ried of the crime, this Valley would not be as bad as it has gotten.. I know that people have the right to live anywhere, and be able to grow. But if you think about what they do in the School districts. They put all the kids the are not doing well in a contenutation school and what some time comes out is the same as what went in to that type of school.

Big deal. I've been here since 58. And if you don't remember, let me remind you. Up until the early 80's, if you were black, you had to be out of town, and in Sun Village by sundown. In the early, mid 90's we had nothing but white trash meth heads who belonged to the Nazi low riders, or a 1/2 dozen other white supremacist groups. These people ran our streets and beat more then one homeless black person to death.

And the local law was never gonna take a black man's word over a white mans. Now, if you think we've done a complete about face in the 15 yrs since, you live in a dream world.

Do we have black criminals? Of course. More then white criminals? Probably not. Especially if we're looking at our lily white leaders.

David Grajeda Is Too Learn A Sad Lesson

That lesson being that VERY FEW care at all about anything other than THEIR OWN TV, Beer and Home Delivered Pizza in Lancaster…

They don’t vote in elections there and if they do they blindly and ignorantly vote for whoever puts up the most cheap posters all over the desert.

They don’t care about toxic dumps, porn or any alleged abuses by the Lancaster Sheriffs…

They don’t read the AV Press or watch Time-Warner TV Cable 3 News…

They don’t dine out and don’t party on The BLVD.

They go to their jobs, if they still have them and come home from over the hill too tired from the traffic and grid lock to care.

None of them know who David Grajeda is or have seen him pointing out OBVIOUS CORRUPTION by the Mayor and Lancaster City Council.

They don’t care about anything, but themselves.

Don’t look for support from Sharon or George Runner, Norm Hickling, Michael Antonovich, Sheriff Baca, Kamilla Harris or Steve Knight…David…

They have all learned this sad lesson long ago and they know that no one cares what they do or don’t do either.

You’ll be lucky if you aren’t found dead after having “Committed Suicide..” in your cell.

AND… No one in Lancaster will care if you are, either…

That’s why Lancaster is a crap hole and will always be so…

The people that cared have all left town and stay strictly away from there, David Grajeda…

Two years later the SGGS is worse than ever with their strong-arm tactics and their unlawful attitudes. No one is innocent everyone is guilty and they want to punish.
