Incumbents named for conservation district
AV Press, Dec. 14, 2010 Page A-3
LANCASTER - The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has been asked to seat incumbents Richard Lee Campbell and Ruth Michaels for new terms on the board of directors of the Antelope Valley Resource Conservation District.
The district was established in 1966, when three smaller districts were consolidated. The district's mission is to supervise conservation programs in a jurisdiction that currently spans 1.6 million acres. The district also engages in educational programs intended to promote conservation and conservation careers for school students and operates a public nursery that grows and sells water-saving plants that resist soil erosion.
Campbell and Michael were nominated for new four-year terms by the full board at its December meeting. Each already has served one term. The county's supervisors are expected to fill the two vacancies at their Jan. 9 meeting.
Campbell and Michael were among five community members who applied for the volunteer posts, said Debra Gillis, executive director of the conservation district.
Other members of the district board "felt that, because of their contributions to the board and the projects they were working on, they should continue with (the incumbents)," Gillis said.
"They thought it would be beneficial not to have the board change directors at this time," she said.
If their nominations are approved, Campbell and Michael would take seats along side board President Kathleen Burr and members Keith Deagon and Vickie Nelson.

You idiots haven't paid any attention to conservation since you got appointed 6 years ago. All you do is go out begging for grants and money to fund your relatives.
I have yet to see any education programs that you sponsor or promote conservation and conservation careers for school students.
And as far as the nursery goes you blimpos tried to close it the first 4 years you were in office then you couldn't do that so you cash strapped the operation.(yes I know about the greenhouses and other things)
"The county's supervisors are expected to fill the two vacancies at their Jan. 9 meeting."
Get your Sh_t together Debra Jan. 9 2011 is a Sunday and they only meet on Tuesday.

These people that complain about the AVRCD are a bunch of winers.
We do a lot of good things. Such as:
1--We keep our relatives steadily employed in the office doing things.
2--We always pay attention to Grants and Free money, how else can we milk the system.
3--Dust Busters couldn't function unless we funneled their donations and grants thru our bank.
4--Our directors always go to functions related to the RCD business and collect perdiem whether they stay or not.
5--Dust Busters is not part of the AVRCD but who cares we help them mess up the projects (90th & F)
6--The RCD supplies trees and plants to the public, including our yards.
7--We know what's best for everybody, the directors have a better memory than the public.
8--Our money comes from tax dollars so we don't have to be accountable for it.
9--Being we are a private state mandated org. we don't have to account for our payroll figures on our financial forms.
10--Our meetings are legit, but we don't like to keep detailed minutes or be accurate in the recording of them.

2 meetings missed and canceled because of no forum. Nobody informed the powers to be about Ruth quiting in Dec 2010 so the lazy ones don't show and there are not enough people to have a meeting. Nobody advanced up amy canidates so they are short people, so they stagnate.

I have never ever seen a more incompetent, corrupt and non-functioning ORG as this one. All they want to do is waste time trying to get free money (grants) and ignore their mission statement. The solar companies are destroying the desert and they are holding their hand out for a hand out. Then turning the mitigation land over to the Santa Monica Conservancy who transfer the title to a holding company in San Francisco, taking it away from the public and fencing us out.
I thought that The Conservation District was the steward of the public land, air, soil and water not a leaching, nebitisim land grabbing Dinosaur.

I just received an Agenda for AVRCD. They haven't had a meeting in 2 months and now Kathleen Burr is Teleconferencing from Norwood. If I was a suspicious fellow I would feel that she doesn't spend much time here and does not live in the area the majority of the time. If she doesn't want to drive the distance or attend the meetings, Remove her. She is now way over 50% absentee.
Her attendance record is a dismal failure and has caused the AVRCD to become a lame duck org. Their spin says that they have accomplished all sorts of items, but upon examination of the processes nothing has been finished or accomplished due to lack of input or interest of the board members and a continuation of expenditures have accomplished nothing. The serious problem that we have in this valley with the solar mitigation properties and funds is directly related to the AVRCD inefficacy to accomplish anything at its meetings. The AVRCD is supposed to be the steward of Land, water, air, and habitat. They are totally ignoring the fact that there is other things other than pursuing grants and freebees to support their crony staff.
You are short a Director and the Treasurer cant see the books or write checks, the president misses more than 50% of the meetings, no meetings for 3 months, Each agenda is a carryover from the last. What the h-ll are they doing at the meetings.
Teleconference Location: 1792 42 2N Road, Norwood, Colorado, 81423
Director Burr will participate in this meeting via teleconference at the location indicated above.
