For years my family or before then just myself has gone to the Mt. Vernon gun show on the Thanksgiving weekend. We would bring up the motorhome for the set-up on Friday. The promoter layed on a Friday dinner or sometimes we would go out for dinner. My wife and daughter would spend all day shopping in Mt Vernon. She might stop by with lunch for my son and myself or we could do the barbeque guy who usually set up outside the gun show. We spent the weekend buying and selling collectables to all our Mt. Vernon friends. A great many of us would go out for breakfast to the Country Harvest Buffet.

It is sad that the new regime in Mt. Vernon/Skagit County has priced the fairgrounds out of the shows ability and it moved to Lynden and the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds. Nearly all of our friends from Mt. Vernon have not followed us up to Lynden. I can find nothing that is going on this weekend at the Skagit County Fairgrounds. Is nothing better the an event that has gone on this weekend for decades? I guess I still have my memories and my Mt. Vernon friends. They still visit me sometimes in Lynnwood. Douglas Kerley
