Cities, states are falling short in flu preparation

Many state and local governments are not adequately prepared to deal with a surge of patients in a flu pandemic or to quickly distribute vaccine and antiviral drugs, according to two reports by federal investigators being released today.

The patients seriously sick with H1N1 will be going to the healthcare systems to be taken care of. The health-systems will likely be dealing with a shorter staff than normal due to H1N1 illnesses of their employees and their families. Not sure how local governments can rely on those resources as the feds are expecting.
