Report: Teacher Burned Cross On Students' Arms

Mount Vernon City school board members drafted a resolution on Friday to consinder the termination an eighth grade teacher accused of burning a cross onto students' arms.

It seems to me that the real issue of this man is being put on the back burner. The real issue shouldn't be about him wanting a bible on his shelf or desk or even the ten commandments on the wall, it should be about a teacher burning anything onto his students body. He should not be doing that at all! The kids shouldn't have let him burn anything for any reason on them and he should as the teacher know better than to physically harm children. This man needs some jail time. I keep my bible at work with me and I have a few phrases on my desk, but I would NEVER want to harm anyone. We don't deny anyone in this country to choose their religion and we let children in school carry a bible if they want, so he should have the right to have his bible. I do agree though that he should not have the poster up. I do think the kids are old enough though to make their own opinions about what they think and I think the debates about creation was a good idea. You shouldn't make your kids what religion you want them to be, they should grow up to think for themselves.
