i was surprised that Bobby David or Gary Coffey wasn't inducted in the HOF..Bobby played on the team that lost in the heartbreaker to Danville. All three of these brothers sacrificed for their team. Not to mention the number of shoulder surgeries David has had to have, the number of knee surgeries Gary has had to have. As far as I know, Bobby hasn't had any, but he sacrificed for the team too. I know them personally and I know that when they played for the ROCK, they gave 100% at all times no matter what the cost was. Hopefully in the near future they will be inducted in the HOF...

awards are always bad. It causes problems, leave life alone and live it and don't pass out awards for doing something we are good at. Heck, I can pee farther than most people, so what?

im currently taking coaching football at EKU this semister, and the first day of class, the instructor mentioned De La Salle, the football team from california who went 12 years straight undefeated, then went on to discuss St X in lousiville, and all these big time state power houses from around the country. Most of the students are from out of state, and the in state kids are mostly from louisville, and there are a couple of kids in there who fathers played in the NFL. well to make a long story short, the last thing mentioned in the lecture was a bout a small school in a small town who consistantly has a winning program, who untill recently never had a big time college Div 1 prospect, but every year finishes in the top 10 in the state in rushing defense. It was really something to see this instructor aknowledge Rockcastle like this in class.

Jon Cromer was one of the toughest, most talented football players to play at the Rock and is surely in the top 5 in all-time rushing yards. Carried the load his sophomore and junior year, only to play fullback for Brown at the beginning of his senior year. After Brown went down, he stepped up and picked up right where he left off. A great football player and even better young man. If I had to name the top 10 players to be in the Hall, he would be one of them.

As someone that went to school with Bobby Coffey and the other players on the 1991 and 1992 teams. I think Bobby is very deserving of being inducted. He played defense and offense hard and ran the ball so JDH could score the touchdowns.

No problem. He is very dear friend of mine and one of the most dedicated people I have every known. Thanks for sharing my point of view.
I think the football HOF is a great thing. With all that is going on in our county it is nice to see GOOD news every once in a while. God Bless.

Just a quick thank you to "concerned for Kids" for correcting the ill stated comment from the guy with the profane username.
I watched JDH grow up. He was a player of great character. Though he wasn't the size of the average player, he played with humongous HEART and desire. He played one year at Union College and started as a Freshman. He would have continued to play but he had to give football up in order to return home to help take care of his ailing father. The name calling was totally out of place.

he might have USED to have been "an even better young man" but hes made some serious choices since high school that would leave one to wonder if he still is, personally i know better and i am praying for him and hope that he has stopped abusing drugs. im thinking that maybe he did as i havent heard anything about it in a long time but i do know for a fact that he was into some heavy stuff for a LONG time. i just think if people are going to be inducted into a hall of fame that they should be upstanding citizens as well and be a role model for the younger players

I just read these comments because I'd heard so much discussion in the public about this Hall of Fame thing. I know some of the people mentioned and some I do not, however, there is one thing that I will never understand........why is it necessary to criticize an individual??? Even at games the children are criticized so horribly from the stands, with their names being called out by other parents. Now, I see that it never changes, even when they become adults. I do not even know this young man but I will say this.....whoever makes this sort of comment, it could someday be your son or your daughter that could be affected by the same problem...whether this be true or not I do not know. Be careful what you say....it may come back to bite you. Bad choices dont make a bad person or there would be alot more bad people!!!! "Hate the sin, love the sinner" Regardless of what has happened since, if the records this individual had during his playing career put him in the HOF, all else is totally irrelavent. And if what is quoted is true about this individual....why kick a dog when it's down? Something positive for them can be a wonderful thing!! Shame on you. Seems to me that there's alot of childish adults who want to whine over their own not being chosen.....and no I've never had a child that even played ball!!!

I for one believe that all these people in the HOF deserve it as well as the others to be named in the upcoming years deserve it as well. and for those that will never be named that played on the '02 and '03 teams that went to state, remember that you win as a team and you lose as a team, these people inducted into the HOF couldn't have been what they were if it wasn't for someone else, there was always 10 other rockets on the field beside you at all times. The Marty Reagans, Derrick Bussells, Aaron Anderkins, Jason Legers, and William Blairs, would have been nothing if it was not for the casting support around them. No one is mentioning the PJ Rowe's, Adam Childress', Michael Brummett's, Jared Rice's, James Micheal Bussell's, Stephen Boering's, Chris Parson's, Devon Bussell's, Clell Sweeny's, Devin Taylor's, Caleb Blair's, Chris Croucher's, Brad Durham's, Derrick Hurst's, Dusty Miller's. But most of all the one and only person that truly deserves the Rockcastle County Football Hall Of Fame, the one person that has brought the most to Rockcastle, No not that old bastard Tom Larkey, he doesn't deserve any recognition at all, Tony Saylor and how about Cleston Saylor, if it was not for these two men, Rockcastle would never of had a football team or had a great football team ever. The best offense is a good defense!!!

No truer words were ever spoke, the only assest to the county John Clontz ever made was to help Jerry Cox rip off money....."do business"...and get off guilty at the cost of the innocent, but he's done well with dirty money so I guess that's good enough to earn him a spot.

So the kids played a GAME!!!! Let us look at these same names and ask who of those have contributed to their home county and fellow citizens, those that made teachers, counselors, ministers, policemen, servants of others, doctors such as Dr. Kevin Rowe who did suffer injuries which required surgery, but who stayed the course and became a person who helps heal us and most importantly CAME BACK HOME TO PRACTICE SO THAT HE COULD HELP HIS OWN PEOPLE, let us face it, he could have gone to places much more financially advantageous than here in Rockcastle, these are the people that should be valued and recognized by the community and shown respect and appreciation. A game is just that...a game, if the county would put the money and importance on seeing our young people get a QUALITY education instead of sports at all costs, we would be able to tell it in our towns, in our people and in the respect our county school system and teachers are shown. When a coach is held in higher esteem and paid more than a teacher, it becomes painfully apparent our priorities are severly messed up. Our hall of FAME should be reserved for those who have made a real difference THAT MATTERS for years to come, that improves and paves the way for our future generations to have an easier way to life sucesses than our parents and we did. Don't get me wrong, kids need to be involved in healthful activities to keep them out of drugs, theft, bad company, but the sports should stop at the level of being a clean rest from studies with the MAIN emphasis being on those studies. Instead of raising our kids with the question of what are you going to play in school, it should be what college are you going to go to when you graduate (note..not IF you graduate high school) and what are you going to major in? What is your long range plan for your lifes sucess? I have 5 kids that I've raised mainly alone with help from my parents due to divorce and sorry fatherhood, we didn't have a lot of money, they all did very well in school and received scholorships and were sucessful in college, some are still in the second college to become such as a forensic medical examiner, she hopes to stay in KY to practice when finished, I certainly was no highly educated parent, though I did graduate college. My kids sucesses are because it was instilled in them from the time they were tiny, this is available to all kids, it's up to us parents to instill that in them and follow it through, so to me this is what "fame" should be measured by, not what game they played in school, but what did they accomplish and are able to give back to their community.
