Personally, I wish someone from the ACLU or the Anti-Defamation League or some other such organization would happen to be driving down I-75 and turn the radio on just in time to catch this church's broadcast one morning.

Everyone is free to believe what they so choose, and that is fine. Some views, however, have no real place in 2008.

However, some need to remember that the last people I can think of who got on the radio and squawked so enthusiastically about something like book burning were the Nazis.

The whole thing about burning books was honestly quite chilling. That is a slippery slope to start down, I don't care what you believe.

The whole thing about Lucky Charms cereal being of the devil (along with everything else from trick-or-treating to fortune cookies to the old Appalachian saying about pocket knives) would have been comical, had it not all been so extreme.

If you want god in your heart and you truly want to be a believer Central Baptist Church is where you need to be. Those people have made a drastic change in my life and life of many others. This church is the most wonderful place you can go. You never see anyone talking or gossiping about someone else. You are never singled out and no matter what these people make you feel more like part of their family than your own flesh and blood. I have been to many churches and many revivals and I have never been more drawn in and more understanding to the preaching as i have been since becoming a member of this church. If you want the real word of God and place where you know his presence is at I urge to come and join us. You will be so glad you did. I rate this church as #1 in Rockcastle County!!!!!!!!!!

I think that Northside and Central Baptist ought to have a fight off.

Clear all the roads in Mt V, put up CCTV, put weapons around the town and just let the two church congregations make their way towards the other church.

Whoever catches the other church first and burns it to the ground wins the other's congregation.

I don't want the ruler of this world, Satan, aka your father, to have any more influence in my family's life than what he already has. That is what the preacher was talking about. By the way the Nazi's took people's books by force, mine was done willingly. Satan has NEVER done me any favors so I want to stay as far away from him as I can. What about you?

First of all, NOT all Christians believe the way you people do. In fact, not even most of the judgemental Baptists in this county are as extreme as your preacher is. Having said that, you are free to belive what you want to. You rightly pointed out that, no, you do not take other people's books. Neither did the Nazis, AT FIRST, but getting brainwashed into thinking everything and everybody different from them was the enemy IS exactly how they got started, though. Think about that. And so you know, I will be OUT of this county for good in less than three weeks, so I won't be hearing your little broadcasts anymore.

Are there 2 central baptist churches which one are you talking about?

I love listening to their radio program. If anybody else is interested it comes on WRVK 1460 on Monday - Friday at 11:15 AM. I also think they are on the Somerset Christian station now but I don't know when and what time. I know some preachers that beleive as strongly as their pastor, but very few that have the guts.

By the Word of God not by what some preacher says but by the Blessed Book called the King James Bible. It says in Psalm 119:9, "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to Thy Word." That is the problem with every person, they need to be cleaned up. Do you like filthy people? I certainly do not, and I do not enjoy being around those who wish to ruin their lives with drugs, sex, pornography, etc., etc. So I hope that you understand onlyliberalinahicktown that you to need a good washin' too just like everyone else and I can promise you if you were to apply the afore mentioned verse it wouldn't hurt one little bit.

Remember too that if you're going to take the Old Testament literally, that includes things like stoning to death adulterers, and not wearing clothing made of more than one kind of material, stoning to death a woman who is not a virgin on her wedding night (on the doorstep of her father, no less!) and a whole bunch more stuff. My point is: The Old Testament shouldn't be taken literally, and especially not just the parts that your preacher WANTS to pick and choose to take literally to condemn anyone and anything he doesn't agree with!

I recently visited this church and was very impressed. They were friendly and I recieved a blessing from being there. These people love the Lord and people too. I'm planning on going back.

You know another thing that tickles me, come to think about it, is that so many of the "good church goers" (not just of Central Baptist, either) get on this website in the firstplace. Topix is primarily a gossip site, and isn't gossiping sinning, and isn' tall sin equal????

I thought Harry Potter was in the fiction section meaning that it was not real. Not only that, but it talks about the goodness of God in these books. Have you read them?

I think anything that get's children into a habit of reading is a good thing and who knows, maybe they'll pick up a bible and start reading, rather than watching the hippity hoppity on the MTV.
