Thanks so much! Do you know if this is a good church? I haven't been to church in a long time. I have heard some good things about though.

It's a little big, it's hard to get to know people, but have a lot if events for kids. We tried it out, but we like Living Water Church on Grassy Lick much better. Church starts at 9:01 or 10:50

"good" church? Don't make me laugh.

The word, "church" comes from the Old English word "circe".

In Greek mythology, Circe is a minor goddess of magic (or sometimes a nymph, witch, enchantress or sorceress), described in the Odyssey as 'The loveliest of all immortals,' living on the island of Aeaea, famous for her part in the adventures of Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey.

Circe is referred to in Dante's Divine Comedy: "Virtue is like an enemy avoided by all, as is a serpent, through misfortune of place, or through bad habit that impels them, on which account they have so transformed their nature, the dwellers in the miserable valley, that it seems that Circe had them in her pasture."

The phrase "Circean poison" has been used to refer to intoxicating things, such as applause.

Church is where you go to become a brainless sheep.

The church is big but the people are very nice and they always remember your name, I don't know how! They have AWESOME childrens programs. The preacher was once a user and changed his life a long time ago, its nice to know he had a hard past and over came his hard ships. I don't feel preached at there.

Someone mentioned Living Waters, that is the only church other than First Church of God that I have any experience with in this town and all I can say is some of them are nice and the little old women that are sisters are mean as snakes! If you go there you know of those two women. They would ruin the word of God for anyone.

Oh wait, I did Rolling Hills too and that was a bit old school for me but still full of nice folks.

Church at The First Church of God starts at 9 am and then at 10:40 am. Hope to see you there if not, enjoy the one you choose.

It is a nice church and the people are very nice. I don't necessarily care for the loud music. I think it takes away from the meditation that people seek when they enter God's holy sanctuary. The music is more like a concert. I know the young people enjoy this type of music, but, what can I say, I'm a little old school. Nevertheless, let me say, very nice people.

You don't go to church to meditate. You do that at home in prayer. Church is for you to come together in worship, to make a heavenly sound, socialize, and spread the word.

I respect your reasons for attending church. It's just sometimes when one experiences a difficult week or situation in life, it's just nice to gather in God's house and listen quietly for His voice and feel His spirit. I do pray and meditate. Not necessarily at home, but when I'm driving, shopping, or at a moments notice when I just want to thank Him for my blessings.

Does anyone know of any good places I could volunteer? I would like to become more involved in the community. Is there a local food pantry, red cross etc.?

Both Camargo and Mt. Sterling Church of God has a daycare.

The First Church of God Mt. Sterling does a lot of community work.

The one in Camargo gives food to the needy on Thursdays or something like that. If you go or call I'm sure they could use your help to unload the food from the truck and load it into peoples cars.

Fine if you think religion is evil but let the people go and do the community work and help others without butting in.

Does anyone know about City Life Church on Queen Street? It is growing and coming out of the old school junk. I liked the new Pastor and music! It wasn't like it was a couples of years ago, much better.

I attend FGOG, and it IS a good place to attend. God is alive and well in our building, but He is more alive in the hearts of those who attend. There are good churches all over Mont. Co., but we'd certainly live to have you at FCoG. The first service is more traditional and the second service is more spirit-filled and "rocking" for the lack of a better word. Our pastors are spot-on with their sermons. We have a wide variety of attire, from shorts and t-shirts to suits and ties. Just come as you are!
