It's about time that Montgomery County focus on the school system enough to make a courageous decision to "ruffle the feathers" and get the system cleansed. Of course, the state had some to do with Powell coming, but nonetheless the right decision was made!

I cannot wait to see the outcome that will only be apparent in 3 - 4 years. I just hope Powell stays long enough before accepting his well deserved promotion!

Once again -

Folks,

If you are focused on the right thing NOW you may or may not be okay in terms of future employment or being reallocated. The reality of the situation, however, is you have not been focused on the right thing; hence, the need for drastic change.

Mr. Powell's job is to repeat what he has already accomplished. I'm not sure what moral compass Mr. Powell employs but I do know results speak for themselves. Montgomery County needs results not someone concerned about the egos of parents nor the staff for that matter.

I will speculate that many will lose their jobs, many will become MUCH better at their jobs, and some will be promoted for their good work.

Here's what you should accept now to prepare yourself fully -

1) Your last name means nothing
2) Your kiss as@ ability means nothing
3) Your limitations DO matter in terms of ability
4) Your ability to understand the vision DOES matter
5) DO NOT play victim
6) DO NOT make excuses
7) GENERATE MEASURABLE RESULTS

In reality -

15 - 20 % will lose their job over next two school years some coming soon

15 - 70 % will weather the storm unaffected

70 - 90 % will get better and end up promoted (this is Mr. Powell's key)

10 % will resign or relocate on their own

Focus on the 7 points above and you will be a part of the 70 - 90 %!

Well, you would think he is the king of superintendents. Don't be ridiculous! I've worked for a lot of superintendents, some very intelligent, some you wonder how in the world they ever got through college and arrived at their destination.

...and where are you placing Mr. Powell on your "seasoned barometer" since you matter and think you know?

Additionally, why do you matter (please don't overstate)?

Have you looked at Mr. Powell's accomplishments? The results and numbers that display reality?

Results and numbers mean nothing if you don't have a good rapport with your employees. Respect is a two way street.

What a stupid question!! I matter because I am a human being. We all matter, even the superintendent.
But that doesn't mean he can bulldoze over people and still believe he will be respected.

No question is a stupid question. We are all human beings per the genetic code but that doesn't mean we all produce value. In fact, in today's times many consume more than they produce; hence, the "1st of the month".

Let me rephrase - what value have you produced that qualifies you to state JP is a horrible superintendent and choice for MoCo?

Powell is not here to make friends with people. he is here to fix a broken school system. if you all want to blame anyone blame the last superintendent. when you are letting kids rape other kids with bottles and the only thing you have to say about it is you don't want to hurt there basketball careers. i glad powell is coming in and setting every body straight. thats what this school system needs.

You can make changes without being an @$$hole. For example, everyone knew the middle school was a mess, so noone on the surface has an issue with the principal being replaced (giving the new guy $100k is a separate issue). Everyone knows who the bad teachers are, and noone would have an issue with them being replaced.

But he is a narc and a nut job. He treats noone with respect. He "leads" out of fear and intimidation. He acts like a king more than an appointed public employee who got his job for political reasons, and can be removed from his job by politics. His attitude is the problem much more than his actual actions.

facts are wrong then. It was political and it started when Phil Rison did not go along with a board member and state reps desire for the new school in jeffersonville.

Wilson is the only principal Powell kept. He got rid of all the women principals. He is apparently a sexist also.

His hand-picked principal for Mapleton last summer has also apparently had enough and decided to get out of the district because there is a posting for a new principal for that school for next year.

Wilson will probably be gone soon. But don't be surprised if it is not a result of Joshua Powell firing him. He is already residing over a high school that is more successful than what Union County's was afer 3 years of Joshua Powell's rule (MC's ACT scores were higher than UC's last year).

Look at the dropout rate for MOCO over the last few years. Forced? Either way, getting rid of those "troubled kids" makes scores go up..

I happen to know a brilliant child, GPA now of 3.7, he was failed and pushed out his last year at MOCO (2009)

ALL KIDS SHOULD COUNT!
