Unions are useless and out of date. They only take the wages of those who do not know better, and provide nothing

AO Smith did employee 1500 workers. How many are there now? That is your wonderful union at work.

Agree!!! Now they lay off people and I guarantee that everyone still there will be working overtime before long. Think a grievance will be filed on that? Of course not, the union is too busy concentrating on the petty grievances they already have. You have people out there who are druggies and use their paychecks to fund their habit. You can't get rid of them because the union doesn't allow random drug testing. We should have traded them for those people laid off.

Unions suck big fat donkey ****. Their leadership is every bit as fat and bloated as corporate leadership. The union mentality has killed jobs in the north and nobody in the south will hire their lazy asses. There was a time and a place for unions. They once were really needed. But now they have over extended their welcome and have become just another parasite on working people while trying to justify their existence. Just go away you job killing, self-promoting, selfish pricks.

Way back many years ago when I worked at AO Smith a guy went out at lunch and I guess he was already about drunk because when he came back he came in the wrong door and could barely walk a forman seen him and fired him . Well the union officers knew this guy came in a lot after drinking but they helped this guy out .Well after spending thousands of dollars of the unions money they got his job back after about 6 months all because his forman didn't fire him but the other forman that caught him did . Well he worked a few weeks and quit , all that union money spent to help him buy more beer for nothing , could have told him you know you were drunk and let it go at that but they just had to spend our money .

I worked as a union member for 13 years never once needed to use it . Also a union is only as strong as the members are that work in the factory . If you do not have a strong backing from the members then you do not have a union , you are just paying out the dues for nothing . Don't get ME wrong I am for a union and I did back the union while working in a union factory , I walked the picket line just about every day that we were out on strike . Years ago unions had a strong backing from the members but now days you will be lucky to get half the members to truely back the union and the staff knows this before they sit at a table to talk with the union .

Too bad we can't have a re-election now. Our president would not be there anymore. I will be glad when the contract is up, shame Regal decided to keep it. Don't believe our president when he says if it weren't for the union, the plant would be closed. If it weren't for the union right now, all the lazy people who use the union for a crutch and don't do their job would be the ones worried about their job instead of the people who actually work. Having to go by seniority instead of workmanship is a crock. If they would do a company wide drug test they wouldn't have to worry about who to get rid of.. the test would do it for them. Unfortunately, the company nor the union have the nerve or a backbone to do it. Its sad that all the rumors are going around that the plant is going to shut down eventually. If we don't get some management who has even a little common sense and leadership and either a new union president who isn't as crooked as a dog's hind leg or get rid of the union all together -- the rumor will be true. Get smart people!!! The union just raised our dues this year and has now voted (thanks to the president's tagalongs) to raise it AGAIN next year. Why? To pay for air condition, heat, paint...for the union building, our president's trip to Vegas?! Pay for crooked politicians?! How about using it to help pay the bills of the hard working people who are facing a layoff that believed the union would stand up and fight for them? As far as the "tagalongs", do you not realize that you are being used to do his dirty work and stir up trouble just so he can throw you under the bus in meetings with the company to make himself look better?

For your information the president hasnt thrown anyone under the bus. He has fought as hard as he can to keep jobs. Layoffs happen. If you only knew the hours spent dealing with complaints and fighting with the company then you might change your mind. If you dont like it then quit. See if you can find another place to work that has a union to fight for you. Sounds to me like you just want everythinh handed to you and dont want to work for anything. Get over it!

You know what..........I am very satisfied with the way the union money is spent. I am satisfied with the union dues raise. If you do not like the way the money is spent.....you should have been in the union hall to vote on it. It's like bitchin about the president of the United States, but you never voted. The so called "tagalongs" is the union. If you want the union out so bad.....grow a set of nuts and show up at a meeting. Make the motion to vote the union out. That is,.....if you have the balls to do so. Other wise..........shut the fuck up. If you do not like the way things are going with the union.........show up at a meeting. Unless you are there at a meeting, you don't know shit, and you are in the dark. If you are at the meetings, and you still don't like what is going on........then vote or make a motion. But if you aren't at the meetings, you have no voice, you have no power, so can it.....and let the people that give a fuck make the decisions.
