No, he is no longer at the church, and he is likely better off for it. Peter had done a magnificent job with the youth, VP, in his infinite wisdom commented that the church could pay two or three salary's on what Peter was making. Of course, VP will likely not respond to his salary package, and whatever it is it's to much. VP is not, in my opinion, a man of God, but a man who thinks, or wants to be God!

I do not think anyone has said anything about his preaching. It is the business side of the church that people are beginning to be looking at. Abolishing all committees so he has total control??? Don't know about this!
Yep, and he is rewriting the by-laws of the church to suit himself, and no-one, I mean no-one is doing anything about it. I think he patterns himself after obama; they are both full of themselves...

<quoted text>First off I started this thread and you copied my name. Second the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling has had so many elders either leave or can't stand the "NEW" direction of VP Palmer and his music...it's doomed. I was there this morning. Camargo's church is picking up several and many other churches are being considered. Is it asking to much to have your pastor to respect Jesus and not wear blue jeans in his house of worship to share his word? I will leave the music program alone cause I guess his son wants to be in a loud rock band one day. They might want to change the name of our formerly respectable church to: VP's house of worship.

Peter is a great guy and so full of life..
but he has no leadership. He wasn't doing with the youth center what should be done. We are now hiring two youth pastors.. One for sr high, one for jr high.

Interesting, my children loved the youth when Peter was there and have lost interest since he left. I guess by leadership you mean a stuffed shirt and a controlling personality. You are absolutely correct, Peter is not that kind of leader. However, Peter has led by example, and I would prefer his leadership to that of VP's anyday. As for the youth center, it would not be there but for Peter. Peter was doing with it exactly what should have been done, using it for God's kingdom; not yours, not mine, but His. Good luck with your search for two youth pastors. I am sure, out there somewhere, there are two people VP can bring in and support his ego.

Actually, with two youth pastors, we could do more. With all the youth that come we have always needed two youth pastors. And Peter didn't build that youth building or make the plan. He came in after it was built. And he is the one that resigned because he didn't feel his leadership was good enough. The youth center was planned to be a place for youth to come after school every day and have a place to do homework and hang out. Peter only had it open twice a week. You have no idea what our vision was for the youth building so I wouldn't expect you to understand that. But Peter is a tremendous guy. And you have to have leadership and controlling personality to deal with youth. They are young kids. They need control.

Tell me all about it. I've been attending that church since it was up on Queen Street. Was attending vacation Bible School in a little white frame house where the church now sits. I was there when Peter was hired and he was hired before the youth building was built. As for "our" vision for the youth building I'm just not sure whose vision you might be talking about. But don't tell me I don't know about what the youth building was built for. As for understanding, I understand that you do not have to have a controlling personality to deal with youth or anyone else. You go right on believing you have the answers. I seriously doubt you will have many following you with your attitude. Time will tell, it always does. Oh, and you and VP should get along very well, with your controlling attitudes and all,

"I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey--whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords." Psalm 57:4
"A man approached Socrates one day to share some gossip. The wise philosopher asked,'First, are you certain it's TRUE? Second, is it something GOOD? Third, is it something USEFUL?' When the man said,'Not really,' Socrates replied,'Well, if it's not true, good or useful, why talk about it?' Gossip can feel like a form of intimacy, but it's actually a false bond motivated by the desire to diminish another person and make yourself look good. David said,'They visit...as if they were my friends, but...they gather gossip, and...spread it.' Solomon said, "Gossip separates...best...friends " (Pr 16:28 NLT), and it can cause you to lose 'your good reputation'(Pr 25:10 NLT)."
Let me ask all of you who want to discuss my friend VP Palmer: Are you telling someone who can do something about the problem by helping, or offering discipline or correction? Are you talking to someone wise enough to help you process your feelings and courageous enough to make you do the right thing by going to VP and discussing this with him instead of hiding behind a screen name on this site? When you say these things, does it break your heart? Have you examined your own life and confessed where you've sinned in similar areas? Are you praying for VP? Would you be comfortable if someone was saying this about you or someone you love?
For those of you who have children...How do you feel when someone says something true or false about your child that impacts them in a negative way to others? I can tell you it breaks my heart when someone slanders one of my children. VP is God's child. Imagine how God feels about the things you are saying about His son. Do you make Him smile or do you break His heart?
We all need to apply the "Think Test" BEFORE we speak...Is what we are about to say True, Helpful, Inspiring, Nice and Kind? If so...SPREAD THE WORD!!...If not...DON'T SAY IT!!

My child goes to school there and I am seriously thinking about taking him out! First, there are way too many people resigning for my peace of mind! Second, I am seeing changes I do not like, understaffing to save money is one, that is not gossip, I'm there everyday I see and hear it! Third, when someone comes into a church and starts re-writing by laws to suit themselves, I am telling you all from experience, it will not have good results! Just remember, there is no one more blind then someone who will not see! Be careful friends, not only does God send in people to help a church but satan sends them in as well, to destroy one and a wolf can hide in sheeps clothing! Good luck

Here is your think test. I ran the upward program at FCOG for several years. However, because I disagreed with VP about his politics and a few other statements he made. I personally heard these statements come from his mouth. So, I am not operating on hearsay or inuendo. I was asked by the director of the upward program if would do it again this year. I said I would but I seriously doubted VP would allow it. He didn't! All becuase I disagreed with his statements and his politics. Maybe, just maybe, VP could be wrong! I do not need to hide behind anything, my name is Jeff Moore.

Well If you we're there then, you are probably one of the many old people who has left the church since VP came just because you dont like change. get over it. And if you still attend, surely you have heard his message. We're too comfortable. Change is good.. Change is great. More people getting saved and baptized and bringing more people to God. That's what it's about. It's not about you. Get over yourself.

Change is the only constant there is, and I don't mind it at all thank you. Get over what? My opinion? I've heard plenty of messages, and we do get way to comfortable, but I don't accept change just because of change. If you are changing for the better, so be it. However, we are to be wise and seek wisdom, not just change. You are absolutely right, it is not about me, or you. I am way over myself, what about you?
