The issue about Jim Dusso at MCHS. It's a bit ridiculous. He really doesn't know what he's doing. Are all of these parents seriously letting him talk to their kids the way he does? He has cussed out many students there and he targets them personally. He only puts focus on spurs and things the public eye would want to see. He couldn't care less about the students who really need help.

Fortunately Mr. Dusso's Minnesota administrative license and his gr 7-12 social studies teaching license remain current for two more years. If he continues to bring chaos to the high school, he can return to his home in the North. Cursing at or in the presence of any age student is unacceptable. You know that, I know that, and most importantly, he knows that.

Seems to everyone like he doesn't care though. He's very rude to students, and yes, they are high school students and most of them cuss themselves, but I've never heard of anyone saying things like that to him first. He has stirred up a fight he will not win.

Still trying to figure out why a man would leave a superintendent's job in another state to accept a principal's job in Kentucky? Doesn't sound like he was 'running to' Kentucky, but rather 'running from' Minnesota. There's a big difference.

I am a senior at MCHS, and i don't ever go without doing research on my authority figures. I've looked into him, and i am very glad I'm out of there after this year. It's all going to go downhill from here.

Is that right? Well that's very informative. I can't understand why you even go to school, with communication skills like you have you should just bypass highschool all together, and go straight to drawing your government assistance check.

The main reason the students dislike him is because he has implemented discipline and is holding them accountable for breaking the rules. No longer are the students running things and going to be able to do as they please like in the past. Many of them arent held accountable at home so they hate following rules at school. Regardless they should get used to it. He is doing a great job and its in the best interest of learning which should be every kids top priority.

The latest test scores were announced at the last board meeting, and they were lower this time than they were the last time.

If he were doing a great job the test scores would be consistently climbing, but they are not.

Like the superintendent, he is NOT doing a great job.

And let's not forget about the people they contract too.
Remember the old lawncare service that spent all of our taxpayer money on rental equipment?
Word is we as taxpayers got charged $1000.00 for changing a lightbulb! Why would the lawncare service rent rental equipment to do general maintenance anyway?
Would anyone like to explain that?

You obviously don't know a thing about the high school. Dusso has ruined it. I have never been in trouble before, so how does your theory make sense? I just don't like him because he is rude. If you're not there every day, don't act like you know what you're talking about. Thank you very much.

Im guessing you are only getting in trouble now because you are finally being held accountable. Sounds like someone may have been showing up a little late to class too often and wants to blame someone else. And before you assume i dont know what im talking about I can assure you that I am there everyday and fully know what goes on, what the problems are and how the school is trying to fix them.

Good idea

I found the below statement posted in January on the school website, I found it interesting this was posted after Bruce Walters asked about the $7,000,000 missing surplus money. Notice the wording (SEEK is funds paid twice a year to school districts from the state.)as state taxpayers dollars may not decrease for the school, expenses are increasing at a greater rate than revenue. As a result of the increase in expenses will force funds to be shifted from other sources.
So in other words the school will receive the same state tax dollars, but because Powell's expenses are increasing faster than revenue, it forces "funds" does this mean the $7,000,000 was the other source where it was transferred from?

My opinion in layman's terms this is what the statement means & the purpose for posting it after Walter's ask about the missing surplus money.

"Mr. White further shared that in his audit reports to school boards last year he had predicted that with the current state of the economy, districts were going to have an extremely difficult time maintaining reserves during the 2011-12 school year. He said while SEEK funds may not decrease, an increase in mandates to be paid from those funds forces district to shift money from other sources. Expenses are growing at a greater rate than revenue "

With the spending freeze on the needed repairs aren't getting done at the schools, or the students aren't getting their necessary supplies. When its all said and done. The county will have no other choice but raise taxes to repair the school buildings, buses and anything else. You can't run a school efficiently if you aren't doing the necessary maintenance. Powell doesn't care he hadn't planned staying long enough to suffer the consequences.
Current, former employees and Parents an audit has begun the Wednesday of spring break... According to the thread Josh Powell audit. We are asking any complaints or tips you have please report to the links provided. Anything your child has told you or any papers sent home which you are incomfortable with please tell the state auditor, OEA, use all the links if necessary. Thank you

Powell's annual job fair to hire before employees get their pink slips was April 20. Are you one to be pink slipped this year? Powell needs his annual raise, to do this he can pink slip employees who are making more & hire new at less pay.
