My husband and I are thinking about marriage counseling. Does anyone know of a good therapist?

Maybe ask a preacher from a church. That might sound kinda silly but if your not a member of one ask a friend to ask theirs. They should know of one in the local area if no one answers you on here.

Yes, ask a Preacher, or just read your Bible, all the answers you seek are there, Christ, Our Lord and Savior will never let you down, it's lonley and hard out here all alone, the grass is not greenier on the other side, pray and stay together, remember why you fell in Love in the first place.

My husband cheated on me while we were dating. I chose to forgive him. After we were married for a couple years, I caught him having an affair over the internet. I tried marriage counseling with my husband after that. Once trust is gone no marriage counselor can restore that. I know because I tried. It depends on what you are going to counseling for. If it's over cheating, save your dignity and find someone worth your heart who will love and respect you for who you are. I did. It was hard. But I have never regret that decision. Our kids no longer see us fight and they see us both happy. It just wasn't meant to be.

I appreciate everyone's answers. We really do love each other and want to work on things. Is Lynn Bowling a good counselor? She seemed really nice on the phone.

I did counseling. It didn't work. All it did was bring forth other secrets my husband had been keeping from me. The last two years of my marriage was a lie. It didn't save my marriage. It ruined it. I'm newly divorced and have a whole new attitude and good outlook on life. No more stress and questions over the marriage. If he cheated, get out now. They only love you because they got caught. They were not loving you while they were off with another woman.

Lynn Bowling's office is in town. If you want to keep your counseling secret go out of town. This is a small town and everyone will know. That is this town's number one job. Spreading what we try to keep secret.

I've heart Wanda Staley on White Ave is very good. She is a PhD, which is what you want, a PROFESSIONAL counselor.

Laura is right. Don't tell people either. They take sides and that makes it worse. In my personal opinion choose a counselor that you or no one you know knows. Marital problems are everywhere. I just pray is isn't about infidelity. I hate to see good women learn the hard way. Men never let go of their other women. I hope this isn't your situation.

One thing I can say, Wanda Staley is very professional, nothing will be said by her to anyone else. Now as far as this town, you better watch about going to anyplace here in town. If you are seen everybody will know in about 24 hours top.
I even use it as a system of communication, if I want something known I tell certain people and the next day it's a done deal. Just my two cents worth. Good luck, hope everything works out for you.

I found emails about past meetings they had. Someone clued me in on what was going on. I never caught them in the act. I just had printed copies of the emails to confront him with. He admitted it once he knew I knew the truth.
An affair like that is worse than catching him like I did when we were dating. It was devastating. A marriage counselor cannot put trust back into a marriage after an affair. Period. Adultery dooms any marriage.

Thanks for all the responses and kind words. I think we are going to be able to get everything back on track... We have been together for about six years, and have two small kids together, so I really want to make it work. Neither of us cheated, but over the past few months, we have been more like business partners than a married couple. However, we had our first date in months tonight, and things are looking up!:D

Lil Lady if you live on Levee I know who you are. I'm telling you as a friend he's had a woman for months.

If you are not on Levee I am sorry to hear you are having problems. Best wishes to you and your family.
