Write down plates an time you see the drug deal are going on. You don't have to give you're name call Sterling police David Charles is the cheif of police and he is getting a lot of dealers. Give them time to get their evidence so they can bust them. If u get plates don't let drug dealers know your getting them. Be smarter than the dealers. You can call state police and get the drug task force but they have to have evidence, the plates will give them information so they can bust them. They will start watching undercover, take ur neighbors back!

Do not, I repeat do not give your location if you have to give a false location. These scumbag dealers read these post and they could live in your neighborhood and put two and two together and see that you said you had kids and see you out playing with them and believe it could be you rather it is or isn't. Do not get yourself or anyone hurt. Topix is an avenue for dealers to protect themselves.

It is a sad world we live in, the dealers now days have more rights than the everyday good citizen. Untill Montgomery Co dedicates a specialized unit that focuses only on narcotics and the abuse of prescription medication it will remain a problem. It has run ramped throughout eastern Ky and laws have been put into place where the majority of the Florida pipeline has been cutoff. Only problem there the clinics have just moved up to ky so now you only have to drive across town to obtain their pills.

I thought Montgomery county had a specialized unit that deals with drugs...ain't they called the Buffalo trace narcotics task force? I thought they specialized in catching drug dealers but I may be wrong...

Be very careful, guys! Ex-officer, may I ask why you quit? Sounds like you are a good person, the kind that should be a cop. There are so many in it just to have power over others, and so few that actually care.

I now longer work on the city, state level. I now work on a federal level with the fugitive task force. I had to go where the money was unfortunately. I'd like to get back to the street level. It is sad that the city and state level have limited resources and funding. To the one above, yes Montgomery co does have a unit to help combat drugs but I wouldn't call them dedicated per say. City task force are comprised of any officer that wants to par take in the extra work and and it's funded by federal money. A dedicated unit would be entirely a unit set up and the only focus is dealing with taking drugs off the street. Mt. Sterling PD and the SO do have tip lines to report drug activity anonymously without being known. Collect as much info you can as it will help with the identification of the ones pushing in your neighborhood. I myself live in Mt. Sterling and I have a small child and a 15yr old. It makes me sick to my stomach to see that garbage going on in my very neighborhood. I have notified the proper people within the department here in town and have had little luck and told an officer will be dispatched. Well a uniform is just a temporary deterant and not a solution. Law makers need to start with the coorerate greed as they are the ones profiting off the working mans misery. The only problem there is the manufactures give money back to the government to monitor the misuse of improper dispensing of powerful pain killers. With that being said we must focus on the drs prescribing ungodly amount of this medication for for minor health issues.

How to Get Rid of Drug Dealers in Your Neighborhood

Are there drug dealers hanging out in your neighborhood? Learn how to rid the neighborhood of your problem, but be prepared to enlist the help of others.

Call the local police and state police. State police are full time employees. Ask for increased presence. This is the most sensible and number one thing you should do. For complete safety, make an anonymous call from a payphone. Check, however, to make sure of your privacy. Giving your name to the Police may be required and will let them know you're serious.

Talk to your neighbors and other property owners in the area about the problem. They may have useful information to relay to the police.

Is this property a rental? Go to The Tax Appraisal District to find the owner. Let them know what is happening on their property. Hopefully, you will find an ally.

Start a "Neighborhood Watch" in your area. Chances are, you are not the only one concerned with this problem. The police can provide you with NW signs, and will often work actively with you to solve the problem. They can't help you if no one calls them.

Be sure all street lights are illuminated. If not, call and get them fixed

A neighborhood watch does more than just ally against drug dealers: all quality of life crimes are reduced when neighbors are vigilant and do not compromise their stance. Even a monthly meeting with dinner or pizza helps create a bond.
Take pictures of the actors (surreptitiously of course), the drug paraphernalia left behind, license plates of cars if you can. Hard evidence helps the police do their job.
Children require alternatives to drugs, so work with your community to ensure quality options to street life.

Don't threaten the dealers. This will bring open hostility into your relationship. Be wary of confronting them rashly; While many can be reasonable people, there is the distinct possibility this will be a very dangerous course of action. If you decide to take this risk, be strong but reasonable and as friendly as possible. Do not threaten to call the police, and try to relate to them without appearing condescending.
Be careful! Some drug dealers are dangerous people! Know when to keep quiet. You don't want to get yourself or your family hurt.
Take notice of your surroundings. People with drugs on them are unlikely to cause a scene in a public area, so confront them in areas with people around.
