For all the people on here crying about pillheads & talking smack about Doctor's prescribing Suboxone here's a story you may or may not like:

I was a freakin' junkie for over 25 years. What/which dope, you ask? Whatever I could get my hands on, thank you very much.

Doctor's have to have SPECIAL training to prescribe Suboxone I'll tell you this much... Suboxone is GREAT ! I still couldn't shake the dope after being clean for a couple 3 years even going to N.A. meetings and the like.

I did the Suboxone program for just over a year and with God's help AND Suboxone... i'm living a great life now. I don't use anymore and I'm 100% convinced that without Suboxone I would NOT have made it. There are plenty of stories about people who can't seem to get off dope for any reason & I would BEG them to try Suboxone but ONLY if they REALLY want to get clean but can't do it alone. AA & NA are fine for some but some of us were sicker than others. I went to NA for years and still got high every few months... I tried God too & that helped for a long while but STILL ended up high. A lot of people are addicted to GOD and look down on those who aren't 'religious' and I'll attest that I've been judged by the 'Best Christians on Earth'... if you've been there you know what I mean.

I no longer go to church because most are full of hypocritical jerks. Not all, of course, but many ARE.

For those who think a Doctor is an a$$ because he prescribes Suboxone I would tell you that you are just plain wrong. The Doctor who spits out 150 Percocet 30's is the a$$.

All this is just my own opinion but if you or someone you love is addicted to pain medicine, coke, meth, or whatever... If you try a Suboxone program and MEAN it you can get off it all and stay off it all.

Getting clean isn't the hardest thing to do, STAYING clean was the hardest thing for me.

I thank God & my old Suboxone Doctor for helping me. Without it I would surely be dead now. For me, and I speak for myself only, NA wasn't enough.

Some are sicker than others, some are sicker than most, the sickest OF ALL are those who talk all the crap about us but have never lived a day in the life of an addict. The dope is merely a symptom of the disease of addiction.

Also, if you're tough enough to go it alone and quit cold turkey that's great. Good for you, just don't think you're better than...'cuz if that's what you think, you'll probably end up high again.

Best of luck to any/all that read this and relate.

I didn't come to you, you came to me, you tried me you liked me, now you can't live without me!

People are so stupid they blame the pills, the pills are like guns, people have to take them to get high and people have to pull a trigger on a gun to shoot it!

Nobody wants to take responsibility for thier actions, walk away say no thank you stick that money in your pocket and pay your bills, feed your kids, do something positive!

addiction can only be fixed if the people make themselfs strong and grow up and handle life as the elders did!

Bet your grandpa and grandma had more problems than you did and they worked it off, might have had a nip of shine but they stood up and man to man woman to woman they seen it thru! Now would they be proud of you?

think beyond your own box, would you want your kids to do what your doing? karma always comes back when you do bad things. This generation is so selfish they are me, me, me. They should never have took spanking out!!!!

Dr. Lamb in Lexington. He is a good man. Now, if you don't have insurance it is expensive, however, it's worth it. Just think about all the $$ we've spent on chasing and getting the perc's, opana, tabs, etc.

I'm not going to post any of his info except that he's on West 2nd street in Lex. you can find him easily online.

A couple things to remember though:
1. He WILL do pill/strip counts. you F up once you r warned, twice, you're done
2. He DOES piss test EVERY appointment, same as above, 1 = warning, 2 = kicked out.
3. His staff are really nice, the only complaint I've ever had is that I've had to wait an hour after my appointment time a few times. The reason was because whoever was in there with him pushing my planned appointment time back was really needing to talk to him, you know, getting something off their chest... I got mad about it a time or two but in hindsight, if it were me in there and I needed a little 'extra' time with him... He would give it to me... that's what a good Doc does

people say, "if he'll kick you out he doesn't REALLY care" but that's not true. the reason he will kick you out is because you don't REALLY want off... He's the PERFECT Doc for a man/woman who WANTS OFF and will follow directions.

Hope this helps.

Casper... think of it like this:

We get warned that if we don't find some ambition, get a job, work hard, and do the right things we'll end up 'losers', right?

That doesn't stop many of us from getting a job and working hard though, does it? Some of us remain lazy bums.

Plus, nobody ever plans to become an addict. The first time I smoked pot it was a totally new feeling and I did like it but I never thought I'd end up spending half of my money on pot. I also didn't think it would lead to where I ended up later. Nobody PLANS to become a junkie... they don't think it will happen to them.

"Excuses.."

You are probably one of those 'better than' people... There's only one excuse that's valid, "I don't want to quit."

Just my opinion

Really?????????? That training those DR's have is on line internet classes....... They read and test out....... Suboxone is a good thing if done right.... But there are some Dr.'s that are using it for nothing else than money. You are suppose to be tapered off Suboxone and NOT after 2 (+) years Suboxone therapy. That should be happening sooner, also just look what the cost is monthly to get the Suboxone legeally..It has went from something Good for Addicts to something that is feeding some Doctors pockets. And at SelfReFind those doctors can legeally see 100 patients per doctor. Not all doctors are in this for the money..... But like I said Suboxone is a good drug when used in the right way... I am so happy for people that are doing well!!!
But the training was internet training for the specific Suboxone Therapy!!!!!!!

All Dr's are in in for the money... My whole point to start this thread was to let people who DO want to get clean but haven't been able to make it with meetings only... is that Suboxone, LIKE 'Unfortunate' SAID, when done right, IS a great alternative.

Dr. Lamb let me start Suboxone and we decided together when to taper down & I finished up with him in less than one year, just short of a year. The other Dr's I called about their program DEMANDED a two year commitment.

Casper, STFU man... you help nobody with your smarty pants comments. You have the right to be a jackass but that doesn't mean you HAVE to be one. If you actually cared about another human being you'd know better to be a jerk.

Of course the doctors are in it for the money. You think they all went to school to be doctors to just be nice and help people? If you need help, then you'll pay the money to get it. Like i argue with people on a daily basis, there are short term suboxone patients and long term suboxone patients. YOU and only YOU can be in control of your recovery. if your getting on the suboxone program, make sure you and your doctors know this. If somebody tells me"you need to be off of suboxone in X amount of months" you don't have a clue how this whole program works. I personally am not going to do a quick taper knowing damn well that there is a chance for relapse in six months. Some people have over time actually gotten messed up enough to never feel normal again. These are your long term patients. Not everybody needs this treatment, but no matter whose friend told you this, or somewhere you read that, it happens, and it's an absolute necessity. Also"Casper" why don't you make like Casper and shoot your worthless self

Not all Dr are in it for the money. I now a man that's been on pain medication for 15 years and he isn't hooked on them cause he takes them the right way.it's the dealer that are doing all the bitching about the new laws because now they can't go to a bunch of doctor's or out of state and get them. And this is what got the ball going they get people hung on them and they are not taking them for pain just too get high.they take one so it dont do them no good do they take two which leads up to three and a bottle of them cost 150:00$ and they make if there and they are 10s they get 1.500$ out of them and if they where going to 5-6 different Dr look how much money they made. And now the people that really need them cannot get them.the damn laws and court systems let this get to far out of hand.they act like
they care but come right done too it they don't.
I cannot think of that program were they use to go
too teach kids about drugs and then some of them got arrested for drugs there self. So who can u trust nowadays. And whose too tell that judges and law enforcement are not on them themselves.

I couldn't agree with Helipiro more...

The only difference in myself and them is that since I had over 20 years experience 'failing' in recovery I was really ready to do Suboxone correctly & in my case it worked out to be under a year.

For all that, I am grateful.

So u think they give u one drug to get you off another drug. If you want off drugs the only way is to quite cold Turkey
just like cigarettes you quit and if you start back again you will smoke twice as much.and six out of
Ten that's been to rehab will be back on drugs before the end of the day or week.
