from Lake Wylie Pilot:

"But in a letter to the diocese on Thursday, national Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori says the diocese cannot leave the mother church ...

"Local leaders earlier passed a resolution saying the diocese would leave the national church if it took any action asserting authority over the local diocese or its leaders."

Evidently, according to Jefferts-Schori one can "abandon" the mother church, but not "leave" the mother church. Well, any "child" that is constantly abused by its "mother" should leave. If not, the "child" should be taken away for its own good.

Why would Jefferts-Schori want to keep a diocese that does want her or her TEC? I suppose one could say that she doesn't want such a public embarrassment of her failed leadership. More likely, she wants all the buildings and the money, even though she did ot pay for the buildings and the money wasn't given for her.

Legally, she will be probably get them because TEC stacked the cards its favor long ago. Morally, ethically, and scripturally she is a common thief. But she does care, as long as she gets the money.

Look for more losses in TEC! Good Christians will leave and start over before taking the continuned abuse from their "oh so inclusive" church!

The irony is that after the more orthodox members of the congregation leave, there aren't enough "continuing" Episcopalians left to afford the upkeep for all those empty buildings, so they become a financial liabiity to the diocese, which is eventually forced to sell them at a loss.

So?

Faith is something inside of a person that may endure all sorts of experience and may become stronger and with more conviction, regardless of circumstance. What is the Goal? What is the subjective or objective importance of conducting oneself within a pattern of living remembrance?

Tangible and financial gains or losses are only a measure of certain types of success. Such successes may be ultimately relevant only where such tangibles exist and sometimes such tangibles are a hindrance.

Sorry, little brother.

But, simply filling in the blanks as one sees fit does not assure one of producing a correct answer.

The relevance you seek is not to be found in the pews of a church or a bank or the office of the recorder of deeds.

It's relevant to the ownership and future of TEC, which now looks bleaker with the exit of yet another of its dioceses.

Ah yes. Almost makes me want to break out in singing the Doxology or perhaps an updated version - Another One Bites The Dust.

Wrong again, as usual and deliberately so.

The Diocese remains a part of The Episcopal Church and will continue to be recognized legally, physically and spiritually as such. Many of the parishioners of this Diocese will continue to remain loyal Episcopalians. They will be the core of the rebuilding.

As for those who are leaving, they are welcome to go wherever the Spirit is helping them to go.

But, by their own testimony, they cannot depart from TEC and then still claim to operate a Diocese of TEC. That would be a simple conflict of terms.
