For anyone who wants to help this family that was the subject on the front page of the Record be very, very careful what you send to them. If you feel compelled to help and a lot of people do, figure out a way to let the children benefit from it and not that mother. It is horrendous that someone would actually "beef" up her story of hardship and add murky details to gain the sympathy and trust of a community, local volunteer company and a news paper. Was her story investigated before they picked her to be the recipient of this enormous contribution?? It mustn't of been and all they had to do was come right over to Netcong and ask anyone about this and they would of gotten the whole accurate story from at least a few dozen people. Her CHILDREN are the ones that are suffering and she is allowing it to happen by not doing what she should be doing like getting a job, making sure her kids are home and in bed BEFORE it gets dark, knowing where they are at all times (sometimes the whole entire day will go by without any contact), making sure they are kept clean, wearing clean clothes and that they have a clean, sanitary home environment to live in. There is no excuse to not be clean and she has no pride whatsoever with the way she let's them walk around. They do not deserve to be the laughing stock of any town they are only children and it is very very apparent that they are embarrassed of their mother. She has a bit of a skewed outlook on life and feels that she "deserves" for people to give her hand outs, watch her kids, feed her kids and just in general be the guardian while they are in your care. The people in Netcong have no problem doing this and have done so for the 2 or so years that they lived here so no one is complaining about their needs and happiness but it is her that either has no parenting skills and basic knowledge of raising kids or she is intentionally playing everyone and "acting dumb" and the general diagnosis is she is playing everyone and is flat out neglecting her children. If any one out there is interested in giving anything to this family find out a way to do it so only the children will gain from it!! She should get off her fat a** and get a job and start making those poor, sad, kids feel more protected, loved and cared for!!They all have their health thank God and there is no reason why she cant start acting like the adult instead of making her children grow up way before they should because trust me she is the type of person who will one day guilt them into taking care of her so she can continue to work the sytstem and play on peoples good intentions and continue to find the support of others including her children when they get older. This is a shame!! At this time of year giving for everyone including me is pure joy and comes from the heart just be careful who you do it for and how you do it. Those kids have big needs and shouldn't go through life like feeling like the losers and that mother is doing nothing to make it better for them. God bless everyone especially the children!!

I experienced first hand this woman's game.

She dropped her kids off at my house without my permission and took off in her car. She left no phone number, emergency contact or new address in Budd Lake. She has done this to so many other parents in Netcong it is hard to count them all.

I am glad that the kids got gifts --- they are the saddest kids I have ever seen.

if you must help, send them individual gifts. Do not send money because the kids will not see a dime of it.

The Daily Record story was sooo full of lies, I did not recognize the family until I saw the name McMasters. I thought wow ... Maggie is so good she even conned the Daily Record.

The Daily Record should keep tabs on these kids to see how horribly they are treated when the cameras are OFF.

Maggie you are the bottom of the Maggot barrel and you know it!!!!

Unfortunately this is all very accurate and if anyone wants in any way to assist the children they should seriously seek the advice of a professional child care worker on how to do just that without being taken for a ride. All they want to have is a normal family life, normal existence, normal parents etc., and they have none of it. She uses the good, generosity of families in Netcong and then the minute something happens that she does not agree with or like she turns on you, blames you and curses you like a low life with the mouth of a truck driver. She'll sweet talk the heck out of you and then find a place to dump her kids all day long, to the point she is calling around looking for them late into the night. It's disturbing to the point that you actually find yourself worrying about their safety and if they have gotten home OK or if they have even been fed dinner. The other physical symptoms that they suffer from are too embarrassing to discuss here but are definitely the result of some psychological trauma or from a lack of feeling safe and secure within their environment. I would have more respect for her if she would speak up and ask for help or even ask the families of Netcong for some guidance or maybe some parenting advice. She is extremely critical and judgemental against anything out of the normal, catholic so called "box". The fact that she has not been employed in over two years ANYWHERE is such a far fetched thought and yet she had her stories all lined up so that the letter she sent in soliciting the "hand out " would sound legitimate and credible. And i am a little disappointed and concerned that a News paper such as the Daily Record would choose someone to be the recipient of such a charitable offer without doing any kind of back ground investigation into her situation. I would bring those children clothes, food, toys, a blanket, shoes, etc. because they really are in need but do not send money or checks or gift cards because she will use them for herself. She is a foul mouthed, dirty, neglectful mother and she is not doing anything to better the lives for her children including showing concern for the safety of her children. They can be seen on any day riding their bikes around town with no helmets on and i know the police have had to talk to them on more than one occasion. So if these kids are out from early in the am to late at night what is she doing?? Is she picking up a shift somewhere and making a few dollars ? is she looking for employment so that she even has medical/health care for herself?? I know Sam's club gives 10 dollars an hour just to be a greeter at the door of their store and offers benefits after 60 days of being employed there. Is welfare, W.I.C. and all the other state assistance programs worth so much more than having a regular part/full time job?? I would think my self respect and the impression my children have of me is way more important than being on welfare and sitting back and collecting a check every week.
