Was he wearing a helmet?

I thought you couldn't get hurt if you were wearing a helmet. I'll bet if he didn't have one on they would have reported it.

Kinda' like the seat belt stupidity. Same BS. Today's reporting sucks! Everything's slanted one way or the other, even stupid stuff like this.

"Old Cynic", are you being serious? What do you possibly mean by, "you couldn't get hurt if you were wearing a helmet" ? Of course you can. It CAN save your life, but in SOME (rare) cases a helmet has been proven to be the CAUSE of death as well.
I was traveling in the other direction and witnessed this awful event on Saturday evening. It's almost like he was daydreaming or something, and didn't 'make the turn'. He WAS wearing a helmet though, and in this case, it didn't help! He suffered from broken ribs, along with a traumatic amputation of his right leg. It's such a shame. The simple 'lack of attention' cost the poor guy his LIFE.
My thought and prayers go out to his family, too.

I was driving on the 19 right after the accident happened. I am not sure if he was wearing a helmet. I saw the paramedics working on him. But his leg was severed off and about 15 feet from the body. I heard he had alot of chest injuries as well. I have been very upset about this since I saw it. Such a nice day, and then you never know what may happen.

Anybody that lives there knows the deer population is out of control. Some people even feed them on a regular bases, cute aren't they ? Could avoiding deer be the cause ?
